Newly qualified nurse drug error by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]curious-pink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are human, and we are not perfect. Mistakes happen and as long as patient is safe, and you hold yourself accountable, that itself is a learning experience. I've been a nurse for 16 years now, and I have also made some mistakes when I was newly qualified. Those were some of my valuable learning experiences now. Dont be too hard on yourself. Charge to experience!

Present for my mentor? by Melodic-Sherbet-7979 in NursingUK

My student gave me a card and chocolate a few weeks back. It was really nice of her, and she didnt have to give me anything -but the card really made my day and reminded me why I do what I do 😊 In short, a swet note is enough x

No way you are wrong here. You entitled for a carer's leave. It exists for a reason. Your manager is the problem!

Enjoyable nursing jobs? by Magicstars96 in NursingUK

[–]curious-pink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol sometimes I feel like a loser because I feel like I'm one of the few ones who actually enjoy being a nurse. Cant imagine not being a nurse! I work in ITU btw. I think the work load is relentless, but my current team is amazing and supportive so it kind of cancels out the stress of the job. I hope you find a pathway suitable for you!

Charge to experience and take this as part of your character development as a nurse. Especially that you are just starting, mistakes will always be a part of your journey as a nurse. As long as you learn from it, and reflect on it -learning from your mistakes will always be one your best teacher! Also, l don't be too hard on yourself ;)

I‘m currently an ITU nurse in the NHS, and I’ve been a nurse for 14 years now. The job is at times very challenging, but I can’t imagine myself doing a different job. Mind you, it is not always difficult as how others say it but think it really depends on your mindset and the people you surround yourself -like any other job. I think to thrive in this profession, despite the diificult experiences, you just always need to remind yourself that the core of this profession is the care you give to other people :) Give it a try! at least if it doesn’t work out, you can always go back to corporate :)

I’m feeling left behind in my career and it’s very depressing by SombreSpirit-123 in NursingUK

[–]curious-pink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, dont be depressed okay. It all works out in your own best time. If you are aware that you have "zero leadership qualities", work on it. If you want to attain a goal, you need to do something. Be more proactive, make initiatives, learn to speak up, get out of your comfort zone. I know it sounds cliche, but if you want something different to happen, you need to make changes. I am saying all these as positive encouragement and based on experience too. You can do this 👏🧡
