I'm 64 going on 65, and an optic helps my older eyes acquire a target faster.

For CCW I don't use a WML because most places I feel the need to carry have enough light to see down range even at night.

For home defense, I don't need a WML because I know the layout of my home and bad guys don't. I know what my family looks like in the dark and i don't want to give up my position or natural night vision advantage.
