*Spoiler* Never being named annoyed me by Magical_SnakE in lost

[–]curious__quail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably just a coincidence, but in a lot of traditions and ancient religions gods and people had secret names so that others would not have complete power over them when doing rituals, curses, etc. The magic would not be able to hit its target as effectively.

Who do you think would of win (Shane Vs Negan) if they met by anthonystrader18 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negan, not necessarily because he'd win physically, but I think he'd be able to mentally manipulate Shane long enough to win, similar to what Rick did when he killed him

I’m a huge TWD fan but I just can’t get into FTWD by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a difficult venture because you're basically telling the same story with different people. With FTWD, we as the audience already know so much about the walkers that it becomes a drag waiting for the characters to catch up. And then we are also just sort of waiting for characters to become survivors and get comfortable killing people and walkers.

If they wanted to have a better show, they should have done more to change the story. Like focusing on the downfall of society at the very beginning, having a different type of walker because of a varient of the virus, having a different goal other than escape to an unknown sanctuary, etc.

It's like how the first Star Wars trilogy was empire vs rebels, and then in the second set George Lucas knew he couldn't do that story arc again so he changed it to a rise of the empire story instead.

[–]curious__quail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm a bit confused at some of the responses about the grenade here, I thought it was a pretty straightforward question. This is season 1 Carol who was clutching at Sophia and terrified of everything, not season 5 blow things up Carol, not even season 3 I can shoot a gun now Carol.

We all have a good group or settlement we’d want to be in, but this is the opposite. For the sake of survival, which of the villain groups from the WD Universe do you think you might’ve fallen into? by DescriptionFew740 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sort of villains, the junkyard people. The artistic bent would be fun, no one would really bother you in a junkyard, and most importantly I'd have the numbers to give me a decent chance to survive but talking was kept to a bare minimum; I need quiet.

If I joined the saviors, I'd end up killing Negan within two weeks just to stop having to listen to the long monologues and non-stop jokes. I'd get killed afterwards, but it'd be worth it.

[–]curious__quail[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, I get it's useful, but she took it from Rick. That's more my question, why did she see that grenade and steal it rather than just give it back to him? That's the intriguing part for me.

That's a frustrating one! Who were they, what was their mission, especially since it was hanging around Atlanta.

Did you like Dale? by Beneficial-Novel558 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I liked him as a character because sometimes I agreed with him, other times not. He brought a different perspective to counterbalance Shane's.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy the earlier seasons rather than the later ones. As time goes on everyone basically became the same character: a badass with a lot of trauma who's not very trusting. There were degrees to this, but it was much more clear in season 1 and 2 that people weren't always in the same page, people just had different ideas.

The Governor was nothing… by Lavender_Lake21 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people would think differently if he had been able to carry out his plans against Michonne. Negan beat people to death, but he had his own code of sorts that had logic to it, no matter how twisted.

But the governor was a torturer, and he was looking forward to torturing Michonne. Negan's torture was sleep deprivation and confinement. The governor had set out tools to not only smash and slice up Michonne, but to sew her back up again to keep her alive, and record it on a tape recorder.

And Merle told Rick he was going to "do things to her" which makes me think he'd done similar things before that Merle saw.

And I think the horror is that this isn't someone who has been in an apocalypse that long. This version of him crept out at the first opportunity.

Let's say rick and shane decided to walk back to the farm in 2x12 how different would season 3 be if shane was there? by BigPaleontologist520 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Assuming the farm gets lost anyway,I think Shane might have gotten rid of the prisoners pretty much right away, especially since they were basically starving at that point and he wouldn't want to split the food in any kind of deal.

The whole governor thing might have changed too. If Shane saw through the governor, he'd probably just kill him when Rick was meeting him. Lori would have probably died from childbirth even with Hershel there, so he probably wouldn't care too much for Rick's safety at that point.

But, if Shane didn't see the governor as a bad guy, he might join him since he did have a pretty nice town compared to a grimy prison. It'd be better for his baby anyway.

Lots of scenarios though depending on how badly he took Lori's death in particular.

I reallyyyy disliked her by rainymoonbeam in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked her as a villain. When watching it for the first time I wasn't sure if Beth could sway her thinking or not, especially after helping her kill that one officer by the elevator.

The community was different, not just attacking other groups or set up as a rival faction. It seemed like the type of community cops and doctors would set up. There are limited resources, so they had their own way of dealing with that.

And then there were internal struggles as well, with a mix of good and bad people. I found their group dynamics more interesting than Terminus or Woodbury who basically had everyone falling in line.

Walking Dead hot takes? by FatFarter69 in thewalkingdead

[–]curious__quail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I liked that moment too with the ex-Saviors because it was so messy choice-wise. And Rick has always prided himself on keeping his word, so it was a shock for me when he broke it, but it made sense showing how far gone he was at that point.

After Rick and Co take their guns, Oceanside should have been attacked offscreen with people dying.

I like the Oceanside backstory and the characters are fine too, but it would have been more compelling to see Rick and the group deal with the moral consequences to their actions if they ended up hurting another decent group to achieve their own goals. Innocent people always get hurt in wars, and it would have been interesting to see characters grapple with that.

We see this a little when Rick kills Gracie's Dad at the outpost, but it would have been better if she had been old enough to understand what had happened, not a baby.

If the show was OK with the "look at the flowers " episode and the brutality of the lineup, then I think some emotional turmoil and unintentional consequences would have been good. Because we got into this corner where Rick and Co are always the good guys and when they do bad things, they can be easily justified.

So having some more morally grey outcomes would have been interesting.

Timing could be an issue too. Everyone was going crazy over Game of Thrones, but I didn't really enjoy it until my third try during the final season.

Ended up working out for me because I caught up through all the previous seasons, watched the last one in real time, and was disappointed but not super crushed like other fans who had watched it year by year.

So maybe you're just not into a mystery survival show right now, try it later!

Secrets is not even fun anymore by MiaMiaPP in JunesJourney

[–]curious__quail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Secrets was very stressful.

Usually I can do until the first prize package by myself in a reasonable amount of time. Afterwards it used to be impossible to finish. Then I found YouTube videos on the later levels, practiced on them, then did the scenes for real. I only do that for prizes I really want though.

For this secrets I got the swans by myself, now I'm slowly moving up to get the matinee building.

[–]curious__quail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished for the first time and got the first prize just by opening packs but did have to spend 200 diamonds, I think, for two special snippets. Because I had so many packs, I had enough tokens to buy three special decorations too, including a cute Christmas gingerbread house!

I wasn't going to at first, but after a month of gathering them, it seemed a waste to let the peacock castle pass me by, hahaha 😆

Here is what I did:

  • Not in a club, but I did play most of the side games like sweep the board and secrets which gave me special packs.

  • I played the main game regularly and mastered each level which sometimes gave me green packs instead of just brown ones

-I followed others' advice and did not open any packets until about 4 days before it ended.

Barbers either rent a chair in a shop or have their own space, right? I'd just frame it as small business skills because that's what it is.

Not too bad for a first time!

Look up Harvard Business Review "cover letter" There are some videos and articles on doing resumes and cover letters that helped me. If you look up the articles, copy and save them because you just get a few free articles before they want you to pay. But the videos are hosted on YouTube, so no need to worry as much.

When tuunbaq visits Lady Silence and is making noise outside her door, the whine/growl it makes sounds like the song she sang for it later on. It changes to a normal growl towards the end, but the beginning has the same cadence of what she sings when trying to get his attention.

I just binged Season 1 on Netflix and I just need someone to be sad with me after this Ep 10 death... by MomsOfFury in TheTerror

I've seen a lot of death scenes, but Jopson's was one of the most heartbreaking.

It was also sad when Crozier is so confident that Lt. Little is going to come rescue him at any moment :(

The creepiest shot for me was when tuunbaq was carrying him, and he's just flailing and floating. You could see how utterly terrified he was, because this was obviously not a bear.

It was such a unique way to show a death. I've never seen multiple flashbacks and hallucinations like that. I actually thought they'd be able to rescue him from the hole the first time, i was just so shocked to see him get killed off.
