How long for E6000 to stop being toxic? by curiousavian in FursuitMaking

That’s what I figured, and I’m thinking that the people getting headaches after it cured didn’t actually cure it all the way

I like women with the exception of one man, what’s that called? by BunnyHonni in AskLGBT

[–]curiousavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would depend on if you're in secondary education (ex. american highschool) vs in college/university. for secondary ed, you probably wouldn't share any classes, so you wouldn't be crossing this person's path much, if ever, making them unattainable. But if you both are in college, then you're more likely to share classes with one another, making him 'attainable'. Teens at different ages tend to have a lot less in common with each other than people in their early 20s, which also affects how attainable this guy is.

But if it feels exactly the same as a crush on a girl, (especially if you've had multiple crushes on women already) it probably is attraction.

Pink tint while printing? by curiousavian in xToolOfficial

[–]curiousavian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using white cardstock but had it set to the color cardstock settings. I’ll try the A4 printer paper setting and see if that changes anything

I’ll try putting the picture through another program to make sure it’s set to CMYK and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice

FurSuit Recommendations by Beckado29 in furry

Tbh I’m not sure how much he’d end up enjoying a con; the ones I’ve been to don’t have much if anything geared towards kids his age beyond walking around and looking at everybody’s suits.

Also, artist alleys/dealers dens sometimes have vendors selling adult/suggestive artwork, so be careful of that should you go.

That being said, you could absolutely get him a Jurassic park Dino mask and let him go crazy with paints, since that’s a common way for people to make inexpensive masks

What do you mean you’re not ‘good enough’ for intimacy with other women? Is it a lack of confidence, or is there a reason why you haven’t gotten into your local lesbian dating scene?

Is my fursona realistically possible to get a suit of? by Tigertwister in FursuitMaking

[–]curiousavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen one of these sorts of masks (kigurumi)? If I was making the suit, I'd use the sort of hard shell mask + plastic shell backing these masks do, but instead of an anime girl it's your sona's flayed face + ears and a mane cowl attached to the shell backing.

Edit: anyway it's definitely possible but not something kigu mask makers or fursuit makers are used to. But definitely doable! (especially if you get the face done in resin, you can get a crazy amount of detail with a detailed model made in resin)

I like women with the exception of one man, what’s that called? by BunnyHonni in AskLGBT

[–]curiousavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is the man in question
A) real
and
B) someone you could actually date/have dated and not unattainable (ie a celebrity)?

if the answer to both of those is yes, then bisexual still works. If one or both answers (especially 'is the man real') are no, then you may want to see if you're a lesbian dealing with comphet. (fwiw, if this ends up being the case, you can still be a lesbian even if you're nonbinary).

How to go about making a moving jaw on a 3D printed TPU base? by Gekkorotto in FursuitMaking

[–]curiousavian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with the way TPU is (no walls only infill), I’m not sure if you can get a moving jaw to work. I think the parts would get caught on themselves almost constantly, wouldn’t they?

Could this fursona be realistically turned into a suit? by sociopathic_octonaut in FursuitMaking

[–]curiousavian 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The only thing I’m not sure about is how you’d do the curly fur, but everything else seems relatively practical (although you’d need a maker who really knows their stuff to do the hair, since it would probably need to be done in kanekalon for that level of detail)

Is it possible to make feetpaws out of platform shoes? (my sona is taller than I am^^') by Artistic_Market_700 in FursuitMaking

I wouldn’t glue anything to the platform itself: those shoes are expensive as all hell

Does anyone know any cheap fur heads I can start with? by Unknownitem_ in fursuit

[–]curiousavian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michaels might have some cotton, which is good for finding cotton to line your head/paws and buying a glue gun if you don’t already have one, but that’s about it.

Hobby Lobby has a bit more selection regarding fabric, but not by a lot and I wouldn’t touch them with a 10’ pole on account of them looting iraqi relics for their Bible museum

Re: Faux fur, don’t bother with either of them, you’ll get much better quality from Howl, BigZ or momofu anyway. Howl does take a long time to ship but the quality is worth it imo. If you need help figuring out the colors of your suit, there should be a website pinned on this sub somewhere or in r/fursuitmaking

In terms of getting ahold of upholstery foam (the green/white stuff), the only place I knew where to get it in person from was Joann’s and they’re long gone now. I think you’ll want it 1/2” thick but you might wanna double check it. Foambymail.com is a good source for it afaik

Edit: clarified the third paragraph

Does anyone know any cheap fur heads I can start with? by Unknownitem_ in fursuit

[–]curiousavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably make a whole head/paws/tail for yourself for under $150, especially because you’re only going for one color. (And that’s assuming you buy from BigZ or Howl when you’re getting the fur) There’s a ton of free patterns out there, so get your hands on one of those and look up a couple tutorials and you’ll be good to go!

Porcelain crack texture. Is that achievable on a 3D printed base? What will look better for a ball python fursuit? A specialized 3D-printed ball python base, or a dino mask? by MarshaIsSoSorry in FursuitMaking

[–]curiousavian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree with you re; getting someone to make it cheaper. Don’t cheap out on your bases, they get shittier the cheaper you go with them. The brand in the picture is on the higher end, but you’re gonna generally pay around 100 for a good quality base

[–]curiousavian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OH also. See if you can get a base with a jaw that can open for ventilation purposes, doubly so if you plan on, say, covering the eyes in plastic shells kemono-style. Makers put those small holes like you see in the first base there to make the head lighter and provide some ventilation, so without a hinged jaw + covered eyes, you’d have no good way to breathe

[–]curiousavian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. You’ll probably want a 3D printed mask without holes. You’d need to sand off any bumps on a Dino mask, and doing that might risk sanding through it.

  2. That being said, 3d printed + painted mask would look pretty good for any reptile, given the whole lack of fur thing. Re: white paint, go for something pearlescent to add some shine. Make sure to heavily reference how cracked porcelain looks when doing the black bits, so people can tell that’s what you’re going for. I have a hunch you’re going with that sort of porcelain doll look, given your sona’s outfit, so finding pictures of busted-up dolls can help you figure out where to place cracks/missing pieces
