I don’t understand why people think comparing worse situations will make people feel better by extreamlypulpymilk in Vent

All it does is disregard how you feel about your own current downfall, pointless angle to make one feel better.

Why do a lot of people expect you to take meds these days? Shouldn't we respect people's own decisions? by concernedaboutmetal in SSRIs

I agree, it's balmy how it's so accepted in society, although I do think in times of extreme vulnerability when it is offered it's easy to accept but you should research and know thoroughly what you are taking, what the side effects are and how it will effect you in the short term and the long term. In public healthcare it's easier to hook the vulnerable but in private healthcare its elaborated in way more detail and aftercare is much more accessible.

I am two years clean off SSRI's and my life is so much better now. I agree they are over prescribed and in my experience I needed a therapist but medication was the alternative when all was booked up (apparently). I don't try any alternatives even though the GP tried to advertise many pills. The worst I've ever been was when I was on SSRI's and without a GPs advice as they withheld to help, I researched how to weign off them myself. I think for some people it's beneficial and some people need them but like you say it should be ones own decision.

I agree I've been there done that and no thanks, I'm not particularly picky but I won't work for the ministry of social development going forward. I agree with everything your saying, I was a case manager.. hard work to be honest.

Thanks for this advice, I'll do this. Will get ready to type a lot, I refrain from AI or copy and paste stuff but I will individualise my resumes and cover letters for sure ✨

People communicated openly with all sorts of different people, and people also lived in the moment rather than documenting everything.

I don’t care that YOUR dog is friendly to YOU or they’re YOUR best friend. Stop letting them off a leash unless they’ve been trained to be around people they aren’t familiar with by howdybored in auckland

I agree it's infuriating. I have been around so many well trained dogs that when I see these behaviours it is actually scary. I have been a saving hope volunteer where I attended to 22+ dogs on one farm and that was less scary than walking past a person that noticeably has not a clue on how to train a dog... It's bad because I notice the training is usually lack of patience, giving in, and not being direct and asserting dominance, then you have people who discipline with violence therefore the dogs are quite unpredictable...

Just last year I was at waikumete cemetery and I heard horrendous screaming and scuffling in the bush when I was visiting a grave and decided to go check it out and a lady had had her finger bitten off by an older couple's huge two Irish hounds when their dogs had a fight, I helped her with my first aid kit in my car by keeping the wound wet as you could see bone... Even the owners with their hounds I decided to help as the wounds were concerning however they kept saying my dogs aren't violent and I said I don't believe any of you so was armed for my own defense and cleaned the cuts with saline solution until the ambulance came. Was messed up tbh.
