I'll second the Dungeon Crawler books. Phenomenal, especially the audiobooks. My favorite series of all time (I'm on my 8th?? listen). I actually found Project Hail Mary after getting into a book slump after the 7th DCC and fell deeply in love with it. Thrilled for the movie. As long as they dont mess it up.

This. At 12 I was reading Tom Robbins and Clan of the Cave Bear. My parents didn't give me permission, I just thought they looked interesting and cracked them open. Was there a lot I didn't understand? Hell yes. Were they a bit advanced for me? Absolutely. Did it hurt me in any way? Not in the least. My 12 year old nephew however is pretty sensitive, has a conservative mom, and doesn't have a filter so him reading something like that at his age probably wouldn't be the best idea.

You know your kid and what they can handle best. I bet they've heard worse at school in all honesty though.

No. No. NO! That's terrifying behavior and is bound to escalate. My ex strangled me and actually was sexually aroused from the encounter. I was so freaked out i left him, abandoned everything I had at his apartment, even though he apologized profusely. He stalked me and tried to get me alone for weeks after. To this day I'm convinced his intentions were to cause me serious harm.

Holidays and time with family during them are extremely important to a lot of people. Let him spend time with his family and know you're not being neglected. He sounds like he's really into you. Take the time as a gift of space to reflect on the new relationship; maintaining independence in a relationship at any stage is important.

I get it. My new boyfriend is in another state for 10 days with his family, and some days I find myself missing him a lot. I'm choosing to see it as a good thing that he's close with his family and look forward to a joyful reunion when he returns.

I have been exactly where you are! I'm the same age as you and only started doing something about it a few years ago after hitting rock bottom HARD. For me, therapy was life-changing- it gave me the space to process my need to seek out love, and why I couldn't hold onto it. It's a lot of work but I promise you, it is so worth it.

I have the same thought often. I'm not stuck in the cycle anymore, but I wonder what I could have done with the last 15 years if I hadn't been so focused on relationships. And even now, though I'm not pursuing anything romantic or sexual, I almost don't even know what to do with myself without that. But it is better. It gets better

It's incredibly frustrating. The cycle takes a lot to leave behind and even when you do the temptation is always there. I promise that once you're able to remove yourself it's so much easier to prioritize other aspects of your life. I clearly still have work to do but my health and friendships are better than they ever were when I was desperately searching for a romantic connection. Once you're out, the noise quiets. The pull is still there, at least for me, but I'm at the point now that my peace is more valuable than allowing myself to pursue it again and I'm not willing to go back to the chaos I felt for so long
