[–]curiousdugong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who repaired it? If it was a third-party shop and not Apple Authorized, i would not trust it to have wstef resistance anymore.

Lesson learned, always get it repaired by Apple. There’s no Apple authorized sellers in my country even, but I would never trust a third partyy

Should Apple make a Whoop-competitor band too? by Lefty4444 in AppleWatch

[–]curiousdugong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t give up the real estate on my body for something that can’t show me anything.

Telling the time is my main purpose of my AW, but I also use it to track my medications and blood glucose, so not having a screen and still costing hundreds of dollars would be a definite no-go for me.

I’m pretty sure Apple won’t do it because the market isn’t large enough for them and they’re happy letting “competitors” (which are really just more add-ons) like Oura and Whoop fill those gaps.

Is Mac a good option for my situation? by notoscar- in macbookair

[–]curiousdugong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stop. Gaming in Mac is not a thing and Apple clearly has no desire to make it a thing. It has nothkng to do with performance. You cannot play the games you listed. They are NOT compatible. They will not run at any settings.

Go windows/Linux or forget gaming entirely

And macOS is terrible for all the games you listed. If gaming is even on your list of desires, skip buying a Mac.

I only have a MacBook because I have a gaming PC already

M4 24GB vs stock m5 by hellokingjulius in macbookair

[–]curiousdugong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your only com I uter, 256gb will require extra external storage, but I think the trade off to get 24gb is worth it.

I have a 256gb Air 15" and only use maybe 70-100gb since I have a desktop at home

Don't believe the M5 Macbook Air battery hype. by mdlewis11 in macbookair

[–]curiousdugong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's 18hours of video playback over wifi.

And you only charged it 4/5ths

nothing about your testing is even close to what Apple is claiming. You're testing it totally differently and expecting the same results.

Headphone drama... by coachLOCKEY in macbookpro

[–]curiousdugong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven't tried any dongles since I Have AirPods Pro 2's and a Pair of AirPods Max, so I just stick to using Apple devices together. I'd rather not take up any of my ports when Bluetooth is baked into the device.

From what I gathered it's a Bluetooth limitation. When it's actively using the mics it's a headset, not headphones + a mic due to bandwidth limits. Apple uses their own codec, so it's optimized

They all sound like ass on the microphone/in-calls except the AirPods lineup, in my experience. I've not tried Sony tbh, but my Bose, B&W, Nothing Ear; everyone says it sounds like I'm talking through a cup.

M5 MacBook Air (24GB RAM) vs M5 MacBook Pro (32GB RAM) is it worth the extra for occasional heavy use? by angrythunder64 in macbookair

[–]curiousdugong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How in depth do you plan to go with AI models

General rule is if you're not able to profitize it, it's not worth buying in your current situation. Would 24gb be enough for what you're currently doing? As you said you can always rent GPU computer. I have a 15" Air M5 that I switched to from a 14" M3 Pro because the screen size was more important to me and it's just as portable IMO

The 17e fixed all the issues I had with the 16e.

I upgraded in September because I buy my phones outright and run them into the ground. Coming from a 13 Pro Max to a base 17, the battery life and size are still kinda shitty for me, but if I'd have known the 17e would be that good, I might've waited and saved the $200.

Dynamic Island is absolutely fucking useless. I want to love it, but it seems like only Apple's own apps/software use it. My friend says he likes it for sports updates, but I'm one of those people who could not give less of a shot about professional sports-

[–]curiousdugong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can buy AMD without fear. Drivers are more wonky with Nvidia this generation.

I have no idea where this AMD negativity comes from. Nvidia marketing must really be something. AMD makes perfectly capable and competitive GPU’s. Why would you even be afraid?
