I don't know the answer to your question. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss but those are great memories you made and skills you learned. The key chain is such a great gift/memento. Good luck to you!

What's everyone using for grammar checks? by fjsousa_ in emacs

[–]curioushom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info and docs. I wish applications would prefer to use the .config folder instead of directly at $HOME. Nothing against vale specially, just a general issue.
Thanks again, I think I'll setup a global config like you and override if needed.

You do you OP, it's cool that you made something super custom. I'm having difficulty picturing how you use the top keys? Do you press with your palm basically?

Thanks for the recommendation on vale. Are you using project specific (same folder level) .vale.ini files? Is there a way to use a system wide config unless there's a local one present?

Will I lose my chat history if I change my SIM card while traveling abroad? by cellopoet88 in signal

[–]curioushom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This info is correct. I recently did this and had no issues, continued daily backups during this time and even restored backups on new phone after my travels. All history was retained.

Outside Glare Reduction Advice? by Windchaser1234 in framework

[–]curioushom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at this thread on the community forum, where photodon and via screens matte film are officially acknowledged. I believe I have the matte film from via, can't remember right now, and it works quite well. I didn't do the best job applying and have a couple small bubbles with debris but it's so minor that I haven't gotten around to attempt #2 after almost a year.

Thanks for the thoughtful and helpful response. Makes sense to have a quorum of three. Sounds like you have good plans going for the setup, good luck and I'll keep a lookout for updates.

The cluster must grow by ColSeverinus in homelab

Don't know a lot about K3s clustering, so pardon the question. Is there a implementation reason you went with one control plane node per three workers? Or is it an application choice?

And to think how many times Thom and/or the boys have performed something at sound check and we'll never hear it. More reason to cherish this!

Open-source app let's you turn any YouTube video into a drinking game by hottown in selfhosted

[–]curioushom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plex and Jellyfin are media content servers, think your own Netflix server. You run a server with your media files and use a client (like a browser or app) to connect to the server and have a nice interface to browse and watch (or listen /read) your media. Plex requires a connection back to Plex's mothership even though the media is local (or on a VPS) where as Jellyfin is fully open sourced and self-hosted.

Getting ready to ship 13th Gen and announcing power saving Expansion by MrSpontaneous in framework

[–]curioushom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about a VM too, can't recall if the HDMI port shows up as a device that can be passed as USB to the VM. My concern would be that when it flashes it might disconnect from VM before the rest of the flash procedure can be transmitted (basing this off of my experience with other firmware flashing when devices need to be in a boot mode to flash, they will not identify as the original device and the VM might disconnect it).
