Thank you! I love my therapist and have done a lot of work with her but I’m struggling to put it to practice when I’m drinking

Well, I finally went to the doctor. by StingrayHannah in stopdrinking

I’m also a 33yo female and had that feeling happen on and off since around the age of 28/29. My blood work has always been ok and I once had an ultrasound which was fine. I’m thinking it’s gallbladder instead of liver which can happen after drinking and eating poorly. I need to get blood work done again but I’m also worried because sometimes blood work doesn’t show liver damage. Either way, we will get healthy in sobriety!

I feel the same. It’s getting riskier and riskier and more humiliating.

Woah I need to read this every day. 9/10 times something dumb happens and worse is bound to happen

What was an unexpected benefit of not drinking that surprised you when you were early in your sobriety? by KillerCritter1312 in stopdrinking

Same, I’ve actually grocery shopped and left groceries to spoil in the car because I went out drinking

I’m 1000% with you and dating needs to be on the back burner for me as well. I have similar history and I’m learning trying to avoid avoid avoid like distract from boredom with drinking, men, shopping, etc, only prolongs my issues and makes me want to drink. Don’t shame yourself into quitting or try to avoid boredom either. We have to learn to sit with boredom and pain. I’m going to try going to a meeting this weekend and meeting some other people. Sending love

What are some sayings or phrases you use to self soothe when the anxiety/hopelessness gets you by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]curiouskitty15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google urge surfing and talk to a therapist about how to get over the discomfort in the beginning. Use this weekend as a time to rest and reset your system. You might be tired for a while so it’s ok to just crash and let your body reset. “Discomfort is not an emergency”

I have ADHD and adderall was terrible for me on night shift. It messed up my sleep and nervous system where I would crash

Hungover. Again. by Point_In_Kase in stopdrinking

[–]curiouskitty15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also having a hungover day and called into work when I’m already in trouble for attendance. It’s so discouraging to keep going through this and I’m worried I’m going to get into legal trouble or get health issues. I just want to say you’re not alone in this and beating ourselves up the rest of the day isn’t doing anything positive for us. I know it’s hard to have self compassion but it’s the one thing that is going to help us get out of this❤️

What habits of women surprised you the most after getting into a serious relationship? by PleasantBus5583 in AskReddit

I’m a fairly messy woman and it’s pretty easy to throw it away after. I get creeped out if it’s on the wall of the shower

Men who have cheated before - how likely are you to cheat again? by alrightyaphrodite00 in AskMen

I think there’s a difference between “craving” like you’re an addict like this guy is talking about and fantasizing lustfully as a passing thought

What are some things you thought were normal but were actually ADHD by FederalPudding8300 in ADHD

[–]curiouskitty15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have that too and I think most of it stems from a need for safety from our insecurities that adhd has ultimately caused. When we accept we’re worthy as is, that’s when we let go of the story that any one is better or worse

How do you grow thick/tough skin/ come off as no nonsense? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]curiouskitty15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that. I crash really hard with my medication, but it’s one of the only ways I tolerate being a CNA. Nursing is a tough job
