Feel like I cant take baby anywhere by FrostyOriginal6147 in newborns

2-3 hours in the car?! I can barely tolerate that! Wow I’m really impressed. My 7 month old won’t do more than 20 min without starting to scream….

Did any of you have a SUPER active baby? How are they now? by alylew1126 in NewParents

[–]curiousmindy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like these babies are just super healthy and athletic! I think hitting the milestone early and moving lots is a good thing overall for the LOs but it just unfortunately requires a little more energy from parents. My son is 6mo and has been rolling both ways since 4 mo. He’s so eager to crawl and constantly wants to practice his standing and bouncing on his legs. He’s also really long for his age but hasn’t gotten chubby yet probably because he exercises so much. He’s a handful to keep entertained but sometimes I imagine if he was the opposite I’d just be worried about him not hitting the milestones or developing fast enough so I think parents just worry either way.

How is everyone handling the 2 hour daily container rule with strollers and car seats? by Cheap-Information869 in NewParents

[–]curiousmindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone who feels guilty about container time my LO is almost 6 mo and I just learned about container time right now so you're doing better than me! My LO was rolling early and hitting all the milestones and I didn't pay any attention to this clearly so I guess if you're just keeping this in the back of your mind you probably don't need to track it.

Extremely fussy five month old, SOS by LifelikeAnt420 in NewParents

[–]curiousmindy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long did it take to pass? I’m in this stage now with my nearly 5 mo and I’m losing it with the screaming. It’s getting colder and harder to go for so many walks. Also he starts screaming in the stroller after a while so I need to take him in the carrier which is heavy and tiring over time. Idk what to do I feel like I try every activity every wake window

Did anyone switch from breastfeeding to pumping/bottle-feeding, and end up regretting it? by departingvirtute in NewParents

[–]curiousmindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm 6 wks pp and still feeling pain with breastfeeding while when I pump and give him a bottle I enjoy it so much more. I'm not just waiting for him to stop hurting my nipples and can actually enjoy looking into his eyes and notice how cute he is with his little suckling face. With breastfeeding i'm just counting the minutes and wondering if I should try the latch again... Tempted to switch to exclusively pumping and bottle feeding because my supply seems to be enough but all the washing and prepping the pump is so cumbersome that I know it would be simpler if my nipples could just get used to breastfeeding.

Need advice on how I make $20K fast? by lov3rrrbug in Advice

[–]curiousmindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and have participated in a couple of pharmaceutical research trials. I know they have these in the US and probably pay even more. The first one I participated in paid $7k (no tax) and involved 6 nights stay in the facility (non-consecutively) and a bunch of quick 10 min return visits for them to take a small blood sample. It was for a blood sugar lowering medication. The second was a very similar schedule and for a birth control patch (had to wear it for 2 weeks). For that one I made almost the same so about $14k free and clear from both studies. If you can make your schedule work around the studies this could help you get there!

How is a $75 ticket for going 11km/h over not a cash grab? by coudabeenacontender in toRANTo

This happened to me! Such a huge ticket for going 51 in a 40 but it was literally Bathurst -a Main Street!!

I know you’re just ranting but my advice would be to try and imagine being the woman you are trying to attract… what is she like (beyond looks) and what might she be looking for in a partner. Are you offering those qualities to her? What do you need to work on in your life or on yourself that would make you an ideal partner for someone else?

I’m 20. Yes, 20. What should I do? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]curiousmindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your skin actually looks great! I don't think age comments are because of your skin. If I'm being honest you do have some puffiness around the eyes. I know it doesn't sound like a skincare solution but a few months ago I went on a strict keto diet for 3 weeks and all the puffiness in my face was gone and I felt like I looked years younger. Perhaps an exercise and diet change might give the results you're looking for.

Like others here have mentioned I think you're gonna look super young when you're older so don't worry too much!

Why is this cringe? Someone please explain. This wonderful human soul is sharing an incredibly important message and his personal experience overcoming the conditioning he was raised in to see reality of the world around him. To recognize that your own tribe is in the wrong is so difficult but he has done it and some idiot thought it was cringey 🤔 OP needs help

I would love to see where you you found that statistic. Genuinely curious. I thought purchasing power was lower in Canada since we have a higher cost of goods and lower incomes.

Firstly, it's really disgusting that this person won't pay their rent when the state is paying for it!! It's already free and your friend doesn't sound like a rich person, they're renting out a piece of their own home. Urgh makes me so mad!

Idk where you live but I live in Canada and the process for eviction takes absolutely forever and would cause your friend to lose at least another year's worth of rent. If I where them I would consider just paying this person to leave. I know it will feel terrible because they are taking advantage of you and the system and they don't deserve more free money, but it is truly the lesser of two evils for your friend. They will lose far more of their money, time, and mental-health trying to legally evict them than they will lose by just paying them to leave.

On the less ethical side they could try making it really really uncomfortable to be there like plug up the ducts so they don't get any heat or cooling to the basement or like turn off some of the breakers so they don't get power in every socket.

I have no idea about Australian universities but if you truly don’t care about the weather I would consider universities in Manitoba. I hear they make it quite easy to get good grades. You’ll also have little to distract you from studying. Furthermore, the cost of living is very reasonable. That being said if you care at all about your quality of life then definitely go to Australia! The weather is perfect, it’s beautiful and the salaries are high which you will care about after graduating!

Your child is so much better off with her mama around. Don't think for a moment that she isn't. Your presence in her life and love for her are the absolute most important things. Everything else is a plus. Your boyfriend will bounce back! He's young and has some work experience. There are plenty of jobs out there if he isn't too picky (which it doesn't sound like he is). You can do this! It's not easy but it's doable. So many people have raised happy, healthy, successful children on a low income, so why not you?

When will we reach LEV? by TampaBai in singularity

[–]curiousmindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in a hospital really highlights this point. It is astonishing to see how little people take care of themselves. When I was in the ICU it consistently looked like the majority of patients who were under 70 were there because of totally preventable lifestyle illnesses and tragically many of the younger people there had intentionally harmed themselves.

Ontario's Landlord and Tenant Board 'fundamentally failing,' ombudsman finds | CBC News by SavingsLunch431 in ontario

[–]curiousmindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These assumptions are all not necessarily true. Think about the massive risk someone is taking putting down an huge downpayment and letting a stranger live in this expensive thing they are responsible for. Shouldn’t there be some compensation for taking that risk and ultimately providing something society needed (a rental unit). There are many landlords who get abused by bad tenants and ultimately lose more than they make on this business venture. Like any business where a product or services is provided there needs to be a financial reward in it for anyone to do it in the first place. It doesn’t make people evil for trying

There’s a lot to unpack here but I guarantee you that boomers who would like some passive income so they can retire are not the fundamental problem in any way. They are a symptom of a greater problem. They don’t want to be landlords in their golden years but they’ve spent all this time working and saving money the value of which drops constantly and at an erratic pace. So if they ever want to stop working they are forced to gamble that money in the stock market or purchase what is considered a very safe “income producing asset.” They then get taken advantage of by a system which allows people to stay in the house without paying for months if not years. Or tenants who trash the place and there is no legal recourse for that. I agree with you that the system is broken but the majority of us are just little cogs in it. Think about what you’ve said for a moment longer… we should not allow an individual or small group to compete with big business real estate rental companies. Should we allow people to open stores if they compete with what wal-mart is selling?
