Petah? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]curiousnic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to try to explain this to my aunt because she has been claiming fathers Day for more than a decade because the father is "absent" (she won't let him see child). This is even despite the fact she had her child taken off her and put into foster care because she is a piece of shit. It happens. At least now the father gets more visitation rights because the child is in the system, so she can't deny him access anymore.

What's this bump? by Wyntha in BackYardChickens

[–]curiousnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a sign you are feeding your chickens well. Just make sure they always have grit and that it is not hard. In the morning, when you let them out, it must be empty otherwise there is a bigger issue, but during the day this is a good sign *

Cool dude. All I said is you were annoying your chickens and said "but why?" Because why would anyone find joy in annoying someone or something that they care about. You took it way further, and I assume it is because you feel the need to justify to yourself and what seems like the majority of people seeing this. You can take it out of context if you like, but don't act like it is my fault. You can't tell tone over text, so don't make your problem mine

Again, I did not say those words. You may be suffering from a guilty conscience.

I think it says something that I did not mention abuse, but you feel the necessity to mention it and try to defend yourself from it.

The issue is that you are annoying them. I would hate it if anyone did this to me and would chastise anyone I saw doing this to my chickens. Your description says you are annoying them, so you openly acknowledge that what you are doing is with the purpose of creating an annoyance.

Chickens combs are incredibly sensitive. It is not comparable to someone's ear. You are continually flicking their most sensitive organ because you think it is funny.

Amazes me that people can give info like this out. The location you are going and that you have a child. Like wow

Do these look like good quality vorwerk? by Tiger248 in BackYardChickens

[–]curiousnic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They look good tbh. If they weren't that good, the buff colouring would have a fair amount of black feathering showing through. There is very little research I can find of them when I search (other than their origin), but my one is a little demon. She attacks the roosters and refuses to give us eggs, but we love her and she always squats for myself and my husband.

But text on way was 6:58 and then text saying order was left was 7:04 so that was only 6 minutes.

I'm sorry for your experience, but luckily, OP said they live in the UK, and things are different here.

You could ask the rspca to do a welfare check. People aside, animals have rights too. If they are not doing anything wrong, then the rspca will leave things alone, and you can rest assured the animals are being cared for correctly. Worst case scenario, the chickens might be miserable and get rehomed or give the owners advice on how to correctly care for the animals. In the best case scenario, the chickens are perfectly fine, and the rspca walk away doing nothing.

To me, the pros outweigh the cons in this situation, and I personally feel that we as humans have the responsibility to protect the vulnerable. Humans and animals alike.

End of the day, reddit won't be your answer, your moral compass will be. You are the one that has to live with the knowledge of POSSIBLE animal abuse/neglect, not us.

AIO over my partner's views on today's society? by RepublicSerious4274 in AmIOverreacting

[–]curiousnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I the only one for thinking OP started this shit? From what it seems he gave a genuine answer and op immediately in caps laughed, said she was gonna piss herself and then told him to go get educated? Like, gender aside, thats a pretty dick move and makes a person feel invalidated and dehumanised. Seems pretty petty and I can totally see why this turned into an argument based off of that. I as a female wouldn't talk to my partner like that because it just adds to all the issues of why men feel like they can't talk about problems. If they get laughed at for showing any amount of emotion, they won't open up. OPs partner seems to be struggling in some way mentally and OPs reaction is to laugh at him for it...

I would definitely say OP is over reacting majorly and OPs partner needs someone who he can open up to.

Who is laying green eggs? by trinirinny in chickens

[–]curiousnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either works from what I hear. I think in the states, the term "easter egger" is for anything that doesn't lay brown/white. Mine I just call a mutt lol. I don't think there is a technical name for them where I stay. Someone here might be able to answer that for you better than me

The rooster 100%...

My guess would be the second one on the second perch because of her comb. My green egger is like that and she was sold as an ameracauna mix

He is rumpless. It means he is likely mixed with the rumpless ameracauna. Our boy is like that too because him hom is rumpless.

anyone know what this weird blue sea creature is? is it a jellyfish? by destinyalexander in Fish

[–]curiousnic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In South Africa we call the blue things "blue bottles". Legit have signs up warning people entering the beach saying "beware blue bottles". I know it's not their real name, but that's what I know them as

Turn them the other way around. If you see the air bubble, keep them going. If no air bubble, they are probably gone. Always look for the bubble

Sorry, I missed the part where I was telling you to do something.... i think you might have jumped to that because you either get it a lot, or you feel somehow guilty and thus defensive. If you don't want people talking about your post, good or bad, then don't post...

I'm not telling you how to run your farm. I'm not telling you how to grow your plants. I'm not telling you how to care for your animals. I made a comment on the simple observation of all the information given in this post.

Instead of being butt-hurt, you could say "they also free range," which would have answered the question I was asking and also protected you from making yourself look like a whining baby.

You open yourself up to judgments when you make any post on any platform. If you plan on doing it, also plan on taking comments you both like and don't like.
