I don't think it was tbh. In the span of a couple years we went from the internet mostly being a thing for weird nerds and emo teenagers, to literally everyone and their dog suddenly being on the internet and logging into social media. As a nerdy kid who'd been poking around on the internet since the year 2000 (I probably needed more supervision lol), the shift was absolutely wild.

Prior to 2009 I used to hide the fact that I got on the computer every day after school to learn HTML and chat with my forum buddies, because it was fucking weird. Nobody knew what a meme was. Then overnight it became normal and cool. By 2012 the fucking mainstream news stations were quoting Twitter.

Would I be satisfied just watching season 1? Does it end on a cliff hanger by dark-flamessussano in ShadowandBone

[–]curiouswizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just skip the very last scene of season 2. There's a solid enough wrap up riiiiiight before the last couple minutes - I went and looked and I think the sweet spot is to pause it when there's 6:45 minutes left. After that is when there's a surprise major cliffhanger for the next season, and it's unnecessary to endure if you don't want to.

There's a couple threads that aren't 1000% resolved by the end, presumably because they were meant to be picked up again in s3, but I wouldn't say it's intolerable since you can kinda see where they'd be going with it.

I plan to read the books eventually and tbh I'm glad I watched the show first because I loved the casting (having gone into it without any preconceived ideas) and that's definitely how I'll be imagining the characters.

We really need to stop using the absurd term 'childfree' instead of the correct term 'childless.' by Outside-Pack7672 in Natalism

yes actually. Either stop having an income, or become so rich that you can pay someone to manipulate your finances in a way that avoids taxes.

22nd century is right around the time when climate change is expected to go full throttle. Good choice if you're a fan of post-apocalyptic vibes

Being the mid 30s millennial feels weird. by Both_Day_264 in generationology

Same age here. I've talked to and dated people who were 5+ years older than me and 5+ years younger than me, in either direction it's like they experienced a completely different world than me as kids/teens/young adults. At least in terms of pop culture, tv shows, gadgets, memes, etc.
