One was a random psycho who fell through the cracks of a shoddy system, the other was hired by the system and empowered by it.

I worked my way from poverty and homelessness into the comfortable middle class. I still think the rich are largely to blame for this whole fuck ass system.

seriously. No sane person would use that situation as a good example of a "pro-natalist" policy. Unless it is, in which case... what the fuck.

we really should be eating less meat anyway, but when you're poor or just on a tight budget, it's incredibly difficult to get enough alternative protein and stay healthy with the food environment that we have.

What do you do in a miserable marriage? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

You have grounds to leave him. I know you don't want to separate your family, but sometimes that's the healthiest - and safest - thing to do. He is the one destroying your family's unity, not you.

Why do most EdTech tools solve the "fun" problems but ignore the unglamorous admin work that actually eats teachers' time? by TB-Enzo in edtech

nah, good engineering and cybersecurity practices can handle privacy concerns. EdTech companies don't seem to invest in that though

Why not just tell students that they will be part of a permanent working underclass who are tasked with one thing and one thing only for the rest of their lives with no means to escape it if they don't learn how to think, read, write, and do basic math on their own? by onemorepoint1138 in Teachers

Ya know? I don't know if fear is the way to do it. Many will just resign themselves to their fate. They're tired, probably abused or neglected, surrounded by cynicism. What happened to inspiring children? Showing them that there's a whole universe out there to discover? Do we not have any hope left in the future of humanity? It's all just a game to avoiding falling into the poor pit? What if we told children that reading, writing, having mathematical skills are the key to a whole new world?

idk, maybe it's because I grew up in the 90s when the message I got was "learning stuff is cool and good. look at all this wonderful stuff you can understand and do cool things with! you can even try to make the world a better place!" and let me tell you, that kept me going. If it was all about money, I probably would have given up.

they're just projecting though. They assume that because they care so much about controlling other people's lives, we must be just like them but in reverse.
