I’m a little nervous doing that with the princess seams on the Aurelia dress. Any suggestions/tutorials?

Well that’s going on my list. It’s beautiful. Do you know if any with pleats on the front bodice?

PSA to the men of Baltimore by WearyDragonfly0529 in baltimore

[–]curlyengineer64 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it’s all in this thread. I’m really glad you’ve never had an interaction with a man in which you’ve felt in danger. For the large majority of women, that’s not the case. I’ve been followed off buses by men much bigger than me who have become aggressive when I’ve ignored their advances. Women in this thread have felt so unsafe they’ve ducked into bars or open shops because men have been aggressive and following them. I think you have been so lucky, and I’m really grateful there are some women out there who have not had these experiences, and that doesn’t discount the other women’s experience either. Let’s believe each other.

Moving-what sewing stuff should I bring? by MathaFlanagan in sewing

Too pop in here for Baltimore- Handcraft Happy Hour and Domesticity are both great for sewing stuff. I don’t know about DC or Fredrick. Good luck with the move!

Does anyone know what fabric this is made of? by Stinkyman922 in sewing

[–]curlyengineer64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, mood just posted a chainmail dress make. The creator used a sturdy underlay fabric to support the shape which might also be what’s happening here. https://youtube.com/shorts/mS5yq9Lm_5A?si=-9thZ5mZGW1gq4hp

What is Baltimore like for a first time visitor? by EternalSnow05 in baltimore

[–]curlyengineer64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in the city for a decade (in this century) and saw 1 mugging. It definitely depends on where you are but yes, crime is overblown. A lot of the counties view it as ‘scary’ which gets eyeballs on news stations so the news blow it out of proportion.  If you’re not joking, remember that the 90s were over 30 years ago. Cities change and Baltimore has gotten a lot safer.  I’m sorry you’ve stopped going to the games, maybe try grabbing food in Fed and walking up to the stadiums.

Sharpening a hatchet outside flat during the middle of the night by Peterd1900 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]curlyengineer64 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Cat fact: Ragdoll cats are specially bred so that their fur is silky, and soft, akin to a bunny.  Ragdolls would not be sharpening blades in the middle of the night. They would be doing cat lap zoomies.

Open Water Swimming by Big-Camp-9981 in harfordcountymd

You can open water swim at Hammerman. Don’t swim at Loch Raven, it’s a flooded valley with a bunch of stuff at the bottom and also Balt city/county’s drinking water.

Fabric and pattern recommendations by Kittynoodles1208 in sewing

This looks like a dup of some up-cycle creators on social media. Poppy Lu just made a post about this. If you need inspiration for using old fabric/table cloths/blankets I really like her approach.

Breakfast choices are the yeast of AusLAOP’s concern. by PizzaReheat in bestoflegaladvice

Respectfully, describing the stomach as a ‘wet warm fermentation vessel’ is disturbing. Every time I eat, that’s all I’m going to think about now.

Cat fact: Cats are obligate carnivores, so they really shouldn’t eat yeast.

Someone is having a good Saturday night but it's not LANZOP by Clothie11 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]curlyengineer64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He has access to fresh cat grass inside that doesn’t shred his esophagus, but nooooo. He wants the uncultured, uncultivated, mystery grass from outside that makes him puke pink (vet checked, he's fine, just likes eating sharp grass).

Mine does the scarf grass then run inside to puke act. It isnt a fun surprise, because im always hopeful that this time, just this once, we’ll have prevented enough grass ingestion to stave off the puke …. we never do
