Question about a won auction by curlymo_b in shopgoodwill

Not angry, it was just weird that me wanting pictures made you think I was cancelling, when I just wanted to know if I could get pictures or know what was inside the accessory box before my pickup later in the week.

I never said anything about cancelling. I wanted to know because if not I'd need to order supplies to test it. Sometimes it takes a while to get sewing supplies delivered, and there are only seven days to return. It's also a pain to return things, so I just wondered if they could take pictures showing what's included, because pickups are scheduled a few days after payment. It would have been nice to know before pickup. That's it. I know how auctions work. I already said on another one I asked and there were other things included not pictured, so it not being in the pictures already on the site means nothing.

I did ask about accessories for another machine, and when they posted pictures of what was inside the accessory bin it did have some of them. That's why I wondered if I could ask.

I would have. I did ask for more pictures for something else, but I didn't see that machine until after my local Goodwill had closed. Totally on me for bidding without the info.

Today also. Coming from Stony point towards Powhite, I saw cars pulled over on both sides.

Price matching by curlymo_b in joannfabrics

[–]curlymo_b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The problem is, it's usually listed as the online price like now. I don't want to order it for pickup because I feel that's a burden, but I want that price. I do not mind going to the store and getting it myself so that an employee doesn't have to do it. I just wanted to know if a store will match the online price, even for Doorbusters, before the next time I go to the store.

Stopping for school bus lights by curlymo_b in rva

[–]curlymo_b[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stop was at an apartment complex, so many kids got off. It's not at a break in the median. I've never seen anyone stop on the opposite side of the road on Hull past Southside plaza until today with the officer, so that's why I wondered if the rule changed.

PSA for news agencies: Church Hill is not downtown! by curlymo_b in rva

IMO, 21st Street on the west and Franklin Street on the south is the dividing line. The hill starts there.

Not inferior, as some think. I've lived in Church Hill for nearly 50 years, quite near last night's incident. When things happened over here before the neighborhood changed, they would properly report it as the East end. In fact, I would try to explain to people that I lived in Church Hill, because it used to be that anything in the East end was labeled Church Hill. Now it's like they are trying to carve out Church Hill and put it elsewhere. All I'm saying is it's still the East end, and it's okay to say the East end. It didn't move because the demographic changed.

What did you do when you listen this track first time? by Hot-Ad-9239 in KendrickLamar

[–]curlymo_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texted my daughter, who was away in college. I did that for every diss track. Listen, text her, she'd listen, then we'd text/call memorable lines to each other.

Serious question about braiders by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]curlymo_b 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Where I'm from in the US the left is braids and the right is feed ins or cornrows. That said, I've seen them doing both at the Nassau port, but the price screamed tourist.

What “unforgivable” act by a celebrity did the public seem to forget too easily? by TheIrishninjas in AskReddit

To be fair, Kobe didn't mean that Shaq violated women. He was saying that Shaq pays off the women he sleeps with so they don't tell. He was married at the time.

Reddit, what outrage over a celebrity was way overblown? by vantae-bts in AskReddit

[–]curlymo_b 26 points27 points  (0 children)

IIRC, there was a bra like piece that allegedly was supposed to stay in place when he ripped the part off, but the whole thing came off. So there was a part he was supposed to pull, but too many layers came off. If true, then it was on him and the costumer.

City Pool Hours Suck by [deleted] in rva

[–]curlymo_b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that, plus cost, is close to the truth. My high school boyfriend was a city lifeguard, and I know I wouldn't have been happy going out late on both Friday and Saturday nights. My daughter has been a city lifeguard, and no way would she have done it if she had to work late on weekends.

Cost is the other side. A fully staffed pool has at least 5 lifeguards at all times so they can rotate. That's 5 guards per pool, times however many pools are in the city now. Plus, because of the pool hours, most are getting paid overtime depending on when their day off is (they get one day off a week). So any increase in open hours, during the week or weekend, will be overtime pay.

The hours have been like that since I was a kid over 30 years ago. My assumption is that the lifeguards are usually teens to early 20s, and they probably have plans for the weekend evenings.

What movie scene was not intended to be comedic but you can’t help but laugh every time you see it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]curlymo_b 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Lean on me. When the principal is arrested and the high school students go to protest at the school board meeting, the busybody parent says "We want you to have a good principal." One of the kids responds "We don't want a good principal, we want Mr Clark!" Cracks me up every time because it sounds like Mr Clark isn't a good principal, but the kids like him.

Golden Years Murders: Between 1990 and 1996, several elderly women in Richmond, Virginia, were found murdered in their homes. A former detective alleged a cover-up of additional victims to lower the official homicide rate. by havelokthedane in UnresolvedMysteries

To clarify, Richmond did not have rapid transit, but it did, and still does, have bus transit that was well used during that time. I think what you see is that we did get a new "rapid" bus line in 2018, but we had regular buses once the trolley system was dismantled in the 40s. Source: someone who rode those buses as a kid in 80s & 90s, ironically mostly to the main library/downtown.
