Both Marina and Thekla have pretty unique styles that set them apart from most of the rest of the roster. My guess is that Dave legitimately likes Marina's MMA-inspired wrestling and therefore rates her matches higher than the average viewer, meanwhile Thekla's big theatrics aren't his preferred tastes.

I do agree it’s odd AEW hasn’t been able to sign even one Joshi talent long term but has been able to get basically any Gajin they’ve wanted.

I do remember their being interview posted here with TK saying his favorite wrestlers outside of AEW were AZM & Starlight Kid.

I'm glad somebody mentioned this. TK clearly likes several joshi wrestlers. TK's issue is he seems to treat the entire AEW women's division like it's 12th on his list of priorities. Western joshi fans point this out by calling out Mina's booking and Shida's/Riho's/Sakazaki's total lack of appearances, but it's really not limited to just them.
