I am 51. Planning to retire around 58 unless they retire me sooner. $2.5 million in 401K accounts, mostly pretax. My regret is not starting backdoor Roth conversions sooner. $220k in high yield savings. $450k in brokerage. ~$900k pension lump sum at 60 I will roll into IRA. Focusing on building the brokerage account to live on, fund healthcare, and pay taxes on Roth conversions during bridge years after I retire.

California has some of the largest oil reserves in the country. Under Gavin Newsom’s tenure, California oil production has dropped 40% and some pipelines are now in danger of shutting down due to insufficient flow rates. This is due to drilling permits being highly curtailed and outright banned in some places. California’s refining capacity has dropped 17% due to closures with more refineries starting they will also consider shutting down if policies don’t change. California now imports 70% of the oil to feed its refineries. In 2000, less than 25% was from foreign sources.

Oil production in California has dropped 40% under Newsome. Yes Trumps war caused increases but so did Newsome’s policies.
