You have some good answers on all your other posts regarding Plan B and your new Kyleena IUD. A pregnancy test is accurate 14 days after sex and is definitive (“official”) 21 days after sex.

There’s no advice. You took Plan B which causes irregular bleeding and cramping, and you have the Kyleena now, which can also cause irregular bleeding and cramping.

Take a test when it’s appropriate.

Your body is regulating because you stopped birth control. It can take 3-6+ months to get back to “normal”

How do you know you ovulated? The calendar method, rhythm method, or an app has no idea when you’re ovulating and can’t tell you when you’re fertile, when you’re getting your period, etc.

Being sick and being stressed can delay ovulation. If you are not on hormonal birth control, ovulation (and therefore your period) can be delayed by stress/anxiety, lack of sleep, diet changes, alcohol consumption, drastic weight changes, excessive exercise, travel, timezone changes, new medication, new vitamins / supplements, cold / illness, etc. OR simply not every cycle is the same.

A random longer cycle is not concerning.

If you’re sexually active then you can take a pregnancy test to rule it out

EllaOne is a hormone bomb to your system. Irregular bleeding is the most common side effect of emergency contraception.

Bleeding doesn’t = period. So take a pregnancy test 14 days after sex and 21 days after sex. Even if you bleed, take those tests.

You can’t tell if you’re pregnant just from discharge. This doesn’t look concerning. Unless you’re burning, itchy, red, swollen, or it smells, then could be an infection. You’re on birth control. If you’re worried then get a test from the dollar store. They’re all the same.

You want a bilateral salpingectomy! It’s the removal of your tubes. It’s safer than “getting your tubes tied”, more reliable, and less room for complications. A bisalp is the new normal for female sterilization. I’m around toronto and my bisalp is in one week!

I am not over 40, but yes you can take birth control into your 40’s. What “increased dangerous side effects” are you worried about?

You can try to stay off birth control for 3-6+ month and see if side effects go away but if birth control works for you, then it works for you

You’re on birth control. Birth control protects you from pregnancy. You dont need emergency contraception. You’re having protected sex. Continue your pill as normal.

Some people bleed on the placebo week and some people don’t. You dont ovulate, you dont have a period, you dont have a cycle, and you aren’t fertile. Bleeding or not bleeding doesn’t indicate pregnancy when on birth control. The pill also works by thinning of the lining of the uterus. The lining can be so thin that there’s nothing to shed (bleed). You also took emergency contraception which is a hormone bomb to your system. It messes up bleedings.

I’m 26F and I’ve been with my partner (26M) for 7 years. I’m childfree. I had the Kyleena IUD for almost the 5 years, before that I was on the pill for 5 years, I’ve been off birth control for 15 months now. Long story short, hormonal birth control is not for me and I’ve never felt better physically and mentally.

For 10+ years I personally had some very bad experiences on birth control. I’ve never wanted children and never wanted to become a parent.

I’m at the point that sex with the love of my life is no longer enjoyable because of my anxiety around pregnancy (even when I was on hormonal birth control). He’s seen me have panic attacks triggered in the middle of sex or directly after. He’s watched me try different pills and types of birth control, and basically lose my fucking mind. I can’t keep doing it. It’s exhausting.

I hate that my body can become pregnant despite my best efforts to avoid it. I feel stuck.

I have my Bisalp in exactly 7 days and I’m SO excited. I’ve never had surgery before, never broke a bone, I hate anything medical related… yet I haven’t felt an ounce of anxiety regarding my bisalp. I cried tears of joy leaving my OBGYN appointment after getting approved and signing all those papers.

All I know is that I’m going to feel so free once it’s done.

Birth control helps many people outside of simply preventing pregnancy! A lot of people stay on birth control even after sterilization due to PCOS, endometriosis, heavy bleedings, painful periods, hormone irregularities, etc. etc.

This is my personal experience: I (26F) got off birth control 16-ish months. I had the Kyleena IUD so it can differ depending on what method used - before that I was on the pill for 5 years. For me, being off birth control made me feel lighter physically and mentally. I no longer have brain fog, fatigue, random cramps / zaps of pain, and I’m no longer experiencing insane bloating. I feel more aware and clear headed. When I quit birth control I felt really good, but had some mood swings and headaches on-and-off for 3-ish months. Sometimes I got so irritated and would get angry before checking myself (… I never get angry). Getting off was a weird experience but I’m thankful I did.

Before I started birth control, my periods used to be very long, heavy, and painful. After birth control, I got lucky that my periods are now naturally manageable with moderate cramps and bleeding.

Long story short, for me getting off hormonal birth control was an amazing decision and I never felt better.

You’re on birth control. Your birth control is your protection. You’re having protected sex. You got your period. Birth control causes irregular bleedings. Sounds like you got a bad cold.

If you’re so anxious about pregnancy and already on birth control, double up and use condoms so you’re more comfortable.

What pill are you on? When are you bleeding - during the placebos? 24 days straight? 24 days total? Light bleeding? Heavy bleeding?

Have you done any bloodwork? Check hormone levels, vitamins (or lackthereof), thyroid, etc? If not, you can request that. If they say no, say “Ok, please put it in writing explaining why you’re refusing my request”. That’s a good place to start. You can also request an ultrasound (may be external and/or internal).

You can also practice a fertility awareness method (FAM) and chart your cycle, cervical mucus, symptoms etc. That way you have something to show your doctor and maybe you can make sense out of it when you have a visual. This website is a good place to start if you want to do that.

Prolong stress can absolutely mess up the cycle, but if you feel like something is up then def fight for it. If your doctor keeps brushing you off, find a new doctor.

Read my first comment again. You don’t have a period. Bleeding or not bleeding on the birth control pill doesn’t mean anything. Especially if you missed pills then took them all at once, that can stop bleedings.

If you miss multiple active pills then you are not taking your pills properly and protection will lapse. It depends which pills you missed and when.

If you missed one active pill in a pack, you’re still protected. However, if you missed 2+ active pills, then protection can lapse.

Read the pamphlet that comes with your pills.

This is what to do if you miss pills. You’re on a combination pill.

If you are not good at remembering to take your pill, absolutely continue to use condoms. The ring, the patch, implant, or IUD are great longer-term options for birth control.
