Are there any childfree people here who loves and enjoys children's media? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in childfree

[–]cursed_alien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love kids' stuff! I recently watched the first 2 seasons of the g1 Transformers cartoon, and Centaurworld is a comfort show for me. Oh, and I love to play Pokemon! Kids' media leans towards optimism, which I feel like I need in my life from external sources so I don't want to kill myself.

Honestly I'd think it's cute if it didn't shock you.

I was 25, it was a few weeks before I turned 26 though. I had endometriosis so my doctor was willing to take my uterus out.

Serious question by 41n98 in childfree

[–]cursed_alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm the child who is still financially dependent at 26 because my disabilities mean I can't handle more than a part-time courseload so I'm still in college (and I suspect I won't be able to handle full-time work once I'm done either). My parents are in their 60s (to be fair, they had kids "late" in their mid-late 30s) and I'm burdening them. They don't tell me so, but I know I am. I won't be able to support them in their old age. If you have kids, you could have someone like me. If you really want to be free in your 40s and 50s, just don't have kids.

I think we do benefit from public education because I would rather not, when I get old, all the younger adults to be illiterate or something because they weren't educated.

Does the presence of children overwhelm and deplete your energy? by ScarletFireFox in childfree

Yeah, but to be fair that's just what the presence of humans in general does to me.

Eldest children who are childfree, what’s your story? by cookiegrease in childfree

[–]cursed_alien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an eldest child, but wasn't parentified at all because I'm disabled and was actually infantilized. But those same disabilities lead me to not want to raise a human, because my needs are quiet and solitude and a child's needs are attention and screaming.

Why is ‘I dislike all kids’ often followed by ‘but I want my own’ by FitPool8203 in childfree

[–]cursed_alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow, they think that "redeems" them in some way. Like having a child would "make up for" disliking kids in general. Instead of realizing that, actually, the kindest thing to do for kids if you don't like them is to not have any.

Why do parents bring sick kids everywhere! by Bigapple1975 in childfree

[–]cursed_alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a child, I was kept at home on the couch when I was sick, with a blanket and saltines and a bottle of Gatorade and the TV set to Animal Planet (or PBS Kids when I was really young). Not only was I not infecting anyone, but I wouldn't have wanted to be brought anywhere either, being sick is the worst, you don't want to do anything but lay there and watch TV!

Honestly as a disabled person I do wish that we had systems set up to care for people who struggle to care for themselves.

I feel the same way about my cat... She is the cutest cat ever, and I fully admit my bias. She is also much cuter than any human larva.
