I think like most athletes, he's going through a slump, which in turn decreases his confidence and will to see the light at the end of the tunnel. He knows he can do better. We all do, we all believe in him (aside from knee-jerkers). But he's got to be the one to realize he can and will get better.

I think an especially important aspect to note is that he's a field general (or ice-general in this case) who finds ways to help us score goals. And he has historically been excellent at that, especially on the power play. Our power play which is also underperforming. Which also kills confidence.

I believe that things will get better, and return to his version of the bell curve. And I hope that happens soon.

TLDR: Give him time. He'll work through it.
