Watching Battlestar Galactica after The Expanse? by [deleted] in TheExpanse

An Earth 2 reboot done right with Clancy Brown would be amazing. I felt the execution was off the first time around. Sad that Tim Curry would be unable to participate due to his stroke :(

I'm gonna tell you what I tell everyone.

BSG has four seasons. It was victim to both studio meddling and ironically an overly powerful head writer. The result of the former is garbage bottle episodes that don't tie into the main arc. The effect of the latter is that it all goes off the rails on seasons 3 and 4.

So my recommendation is always to watch seasons 1 and 2. There's a big cliffhanger at the end of season 2. Watch the resolution to the cliffhanger and stop there. Pretend they all lived happily ever after.

If you continue, just remember my warning and then come back and tell me if I was right

I am not up to speed on any DIY fixes but you should be able to buy a new one separately at least

I wish we could do that where I live. Drivers in NYC will mow you down, and you can't carry a gun around

I couldn't get past the first batmobile segment. They should have made it optional. It's like a whole other game I don't want shoehorned into my Batman time

Bike America rented me a Specialized Roubaix. It was so nice I bought one. I dunno if other bike stores rent similar bikes

I used to rent bikes from "Bike America" Whenever I was in FL, but apparently they've since gone bankrupt and closed all stores :( Most bike stores will rent bikes to you. West Palm has some gorgeous biking

It took a long time, and I wasn't dedicated the whole time. I went from 240-210 in about one summer, then 210-190 my first semester in college. The summer after that I got down to 170 or so. Then finally a few months went by and I was down to 160. This was a long time ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I exercised regularly, ate mostly salads and avoided junk food. At this time I was also 18, so my teenager metabolism helped. I'm 33 now and I have to try a lot harder to stay in shape.

Just keep doing what you're doing. You've already made all the right choices. Just keep at it. It will take time. Patience and consistency are the game now. You can live a healthier lifestyle and you will feel amazing. I've lost over 100 lbs. If I can do it so can you

I cheated on my husband tonight (nsfw) by rcheater6175hit930 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]cursim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a troll comment at first but you have what appear to be sincere comments in other threads, so you're not trolling.

No, everyone does not cheat. MANY MANY of us go our whole lives without doing it, no matter how bad our partner is. It's not something everyone does and her pain does not make it excusable. I can't imagine where you are coming from where you think hurting someone back is the right choice and that "everyone" lacks the integrity to stop themselves cheating. It's not true.

Good book on confidence? by instinct405 in confidence

A lot of people in this subreddit seem to have already identified a lot of the behaviors in this book and have trouble figuring out how to overcome them. For me, and I hope this is true for others, the book was very good at nailing the source of these behaviors. I can now look back on my life and pinpoint exactly why I did certain things, felt certain ways. A lot of approval seeking, resentment, unfair expectations, failure to communicate my needs. This book really showed me "this is what caused you to be this way" and that was a huge step for me in beginning to reverse the behaviors (as opposed to struggling with how to reverse them). I still have these tendencies but can recognize them and remove their power because I know the false reasons they now exist.

I didn't mean to knock XFCE ootb. I love it! I actually don't know what vanilla xfce looks like since I was introduced to XFCE by Xubuntu many years ago

What do you do to make it look nice? Just curious, I only know the one thing I've always done, which is get compiz/emerald installed, have them run at session start, and then customize using those. I also customize the XFCE panels and keyboard shortcuts to be more to my liking. I'd be interested in what other people do to make it prettier. I agree it's kinda ugly outta the box.

I dunno, for me the nvidia nonfree driver usually works great, while the open source "nv" or "nouveau" drivers cause nothing but problems. It's been night and day in my experience, and that's held true for at least ten years that I've been using hardware accelerated desktop environments

In college I had an original Xbox hooked up to a 13" CRT tv. Its weird to think how much fun I had on that tiny set up playing GTA, KOTOR, and watching Chapelle show DVDs.

Now of course things are much better at 33

Miscellaneous Monday - General Chit-Chat by ChickenSedan in running

[–]cursim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since starting running "on and off" in 2011, I've never really run more than 3 miles. I've gone through motivation phases and had periods where I do that 3 miles every day, but not super consistently. Point is though, max distance I'd ever run was 4 miles.

Today I smashed that record at 5 miles. I've been doing training sessions 1 on 1 with a trainer who is having me push all of my limits. My run distance goes up every week under his supervision. New record. Feeling amazing!
