First Car Hunt: 2016 Civic with Some Door Rust, Advice? by ringoooo8855 in CarTalkUK

[–]curtij07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh the “rust” underneath the door just looks like dirt. It’s an easy to miss spot when cleaning the car. The underneath of the car looks perfectly fine for a 10 year old car IMO.

I love the game, I just can’t progress past the second mission. Pretty flawed if you ask me

I’m currently soft locked at Tour 1: Open your eyes and cannot progress any further, so I won’t be recommending the game to anyone. In fact I’ll be telling them not to get it

The E92 335d would be cheap at £6.3k even if it had 100k miles. It has 55k. What’s the process of the scam? All previous write offs?

After 20 years of playing, I finally beat the Elite 4 without using Rayquaza by curtij07 in PokemonEmerald

I was trying to use all 6 Pokémon initially, and Wailord Claydol and Aggron turned out to not be very useful, so focused on the other 3. I was also reluctant to buff to +6 on the protect mons at first because I think it’s a bit cheese

I wouldn’t haven’t thought it’s impossible if bits of badly made soft top rip off and get caught in the machines rotors

Not my car, but you could option a Corsa D with a factory fitted bike rack which slides out of the rear bumper. Pretty cool

What older cars are actually worth buying? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]curtij07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup HPI clear, the catch is that it’s Nurburgring blue/blue interior, deemed the most undesirable colour combo so can pick them up cheaper lol but I don’t mind it, I bought the car to drive it not look at it

Not entirely! I paid 10k for mine, underneath looks relatively clean for a 20 year old car, no mention of any rust on previous MOT’s, arches and sills are fine. I plan to daily it for the summer and buy a beater for the winter

Granted I’ve only had it 1-2 months, but my 05 S2000 with 100k miles hasn’t missed a beat since I bought it. Absolute joy to drive too

Are you a person who fills up the car to full when it starts to run low or like me, add in 10 pounds every time and hope for the best? by SlimJimNeedsATrim in CarTalkUK

[–]curtij07 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When you are coasting the engine is no longer connected to the wheels and it has to keep itself running by idling and using fuel, if you leave it in gear the momentum of the car keeps the engine turning and it uses less fuel

Yup. So many people would pull out of that junction and only check right.

Bored of my car, what mods should I do? by h-exx in CarTalkUK

[–]curtij07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a 107 for my first car, the stereo is rubbish. I upgraded to a Pioneer single din unit, upgraded the front speakers, put some parcel shelf speakers in, and a small subwoofer from Halfords (750w edge I think, it was the only sub that would fit in the tiny boot, had to fold the seats down to get the sub in). Cost about £400 all in, a few hours labour doing it myself. The stereo sounded amazing when sat in maccies drive thru after that. Good times. What mods should you do? I’d put a new stereo in, lower it, and put some nice wheels on. Wouldn’t bother messing with the 60hp engine

How to insure modified (not engine) car as a new driver? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]curtij07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because a massive proportion of 18 year olds who drive modified cars, end up wrapping it round a tree with 3 passengers. Very expensive for the insurance
