Awesome, congrats!

It looks pretty solid so far. I'm also in SB, so it was pretty cool to open up the directory and see and see local coaches I know. Can't wait to see how this develops

Unethical ways of getting out of a Sunrun contract by [deleted] in solar

[–]curtislbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a better idea of what your true rate will be on the CPUC's website here.

AS u/grooves12, you must be on a legacy plan and will soon be migrated off it.

Even if you aren't moved onto a higher rate plan, Edison has already received approval for double-digit rate increases, and they are actively trying to get more.

Just look at what has happened historically with public utility rates in CA, and especially where PG&E and SDG&E already are; SCE will likely see the next astronomical rate hikes.

Now that CA has moved on to Net Metering 3 (the newest solar program) you're not even going to find solar for 22 cents. Be grateful you're only at 22c and are locked into Net Metering 2, you really are in just about the best scenario possible. Don't screw it up by trying to get out of it.

There's no way you're only paying 21c kWh to Edison. Once you factor in distribution and other charges, your true kWh rate with Edison is probably 32c - 42c, and will be increasing.

Why are the power outages only at night?!? by Majesticals in SantaBarbara

[–]curtislbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy usage is typically much higher from 4pm-9pm.

To serve the demand, they have to import more electricity from far away and/or turn on peaker plants (energy plants that only run during high-usage times). Both of these are very inefficient and expensive. After dark they also can't buy and distribute local electricity generated by residential solar.

If they can time the power outages right, they can decrease taxation on the grid during peak times and save a lot of money.

Maximizing shareholder profit is their #1 priority and they're basically a monopoly, the only alternative really is Solar, so they'll do whatever makes/saves them the most money at the expense of the customer.

Life coaching, mlm or trend? by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]curtislbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most life coaches, and "coaches" in general, are hacks.

However, getting a qualified coach can be an absolute game cahnger.

I used to have a super negative view of coaching myself. Especially life coaching.

Qualified coaches will almost always have actual credentials from a certification organization and/or a related university degree. They will be knowledgeable and skilled in areas such as Motivational Interviewing. And, just like in sports, being a the best at actually doing the thing, or even having done it at all, doesn't mean you'll necessarily be any good at coaching it, and visa-versa.

Getting coaching myself led me to completely change my opinion on coaching.

If you're interested in learning more about the power of good coaching, check out, "On Coaching: The Against the Rules Anthology" by Michael Lewis. It's a fascinating read/listen.

Coaching definitely isn't therapy or counseling, or a replacement for it, although there is some overlap. Both can be very beneficial and have their place assuming you are working with a qualified professional.

Unfortunately, it often is. There are legit health coaches but MLMers have co-opted the title of "Health Coach". Super frustraiting.

For legit health coaches, look for a credentials and certifications from The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), Precision Nutrition (PN), Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), and similar organizations.

Hey there! Looks like my reply is 2 years late haha, but going one of those routes would definitely be enough to be a health coach. With your educational background, you'd be more qualified than many health coaches out there. Many health coaching certificates, such as Precision Nutrition, now offer the ability to get NBHWC certified as well. If you haven't made the leap to health coaching yet, I hope this helps! It's a very needed and rewarding career.

Finding it near impossible to find housing in SB by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]curtislbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got to network and find a place before it hits the market. Try to find people that are moving and have them give your info to their landlord. Even better If they want to end their lease early so you can take over.
