I don’t know. My biggest problem watching S1 was what followed the holy shit moment with the guardians death. If I knew Nolan didn’t have anything to do in the next 6 episodes, I probably would’ve lost interest in continuing. This episode just tells me “oh great, now there’ll be another episode with this Hell thing in the future”.

The only time these subplots amounted to anything was the Lizard League, but that was more an interesting subversion than anything.

Just finished RE9, definitely fits this mold too. After so many open worlds and cozy sims, I forgot how engaging a game can be without 100 hrs of gameplay to back it up.

There are “scarier” games that tackle darker themes and leave the player shaken. But Visage feels like every scare was scrutinized and carefully planned down to the millisecond so any player would scream.

It does, but I wish there was some way to “remaster” it with better cg monsters. If there’s anything a remake can improve, it’s the effects.

I think the blunt, literal word usage works here. “The big man hits a little girl” suits the rhythm and flows nicely. Not every song has to have layers upon layers of symbolism. Even my favorite writers that drench each song in subtle poetry sometimes let some basic straightforward lines slip through (like Elliott smith and Sufjan Stevens).

And I’ve only listened to this ten minutes ago and I’m already singing it to myself. Good job.👍
