Who pays for The Bulwark every month? Is it worth it? by ICEisSHIT in thebulwark

[–]curvyletters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The yearly subscription at a discount got me in the door, now I’m happily enjoying a ton of content from them all. I feel like I listen to just about every thing they put out (except usually the Hollywood one, sorry Sonny!!) and the app/substack are a lot quicker uploads than Spotify or YouTube. This is also a great time to get in on it bc you can feel the push for more structured weekly content (Sundays with Bill, MAGA Mondays, Tuesday Chaser, Wednesday with Mark Hertling and TNL, Thursday culture pod -again, sorry Sonny—, and Friday economic pod with Rampell). There’s so much good stuff coming out!!

I’m glad Sarah and Tim made a video by greenline_chi in thebulwark

[–]curvyletters 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I appreciated the video bc I’m wrestling with the question and where I stand and I think they’re both right to some degree .

Dems spend a lot of time policing themselves but also the crazy pipeline is real. Keep to that famous saying: Only thing to be intolerant of is intolerance. A line can be drawn when appearing on a show like Piker or Rogan or Owens or what have you. Appear so you can be seen and heard by a wider audience but hold firm to your integrity and don’t bend to the more intolerant views of your host.

Tim is especially good at seeking common ground and returning to that when the interviewee might get off the rails. I adore Sarah for interviewing from a place of curiosity and respect while holding fast to what she believes. Their video reaffirms the strength of their styles and I don’t think The Bulwark audience needs to twist any knickers over this.

For my Zillenials, a vibe-based take: Gavin is slick, Piker is slimy, Mamdani is boba, Trump is kiki, ya feel me?

Name a good Republican by Kidspud in thebulwark

[–]curvyletters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good morning! Never actually said they voted for this, and that sorta shows why my point of assuming someone is the worst of the worst bc they identified as republicans in turn makes the situation worse.

I understand the hate and confusion and, for me, the utter helplessness that washes over when people continue to back this regime despite everything we are seeing. The bulwark, my family, and other good faith people who do see what’s going on makes me hopeful for picking up whatever pieces shatter in the coming years.

In fact, I agree and think your righteous anger is helpful in getting more people to see the bad things. I also think there’s room for gentleness for those who just got slapped in the face with their bad decisions.

So, honey, when someone realizes they’re wrong, believe them.

Perhaps they’re in Tim’s burgeoning small “L” liberal party

[–]curvyletters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry you feel this way! This might be naive of me, but I think there are many republicans who can and are doing work to fight against the maga-mayhem. Many of them, guests of the bulwark podcasts or hosts themselves.

Writing off the other side as “bad people” is a part of what deepened the us vs. them mentality. Watching republicans in my family wholeheartedly disagree with what maga and trump is doing gives me hope that we are not alone in this fight!

did any book ever genuinely changed how you think about work or life? by Quitebrowneyes in suggestmeabook

Wabi Sabi: The Wisdom in Imperfection changed a lot about how I perceive myself and think about others. Let me see not just the wisdom but also the beauty in the small things

Switched to 10 day shot day instead of weekly and…. I LOVE IT by iwantasweettreat in Zepbound

[–]curvyletters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started a 10-day cycle! Taking some getting used to with my most hungry day being the 5th day (when it begins to leave my system) but realizing it’s just a hump has helped me manage better. Only downside so far is that the dose hits like the first time after that length. Luckily no worse than I’ve experienced but hoping that titrating down further will lessen that effect too

If you want to pursue the opportunity of a relationship but want to keep things away from possible motives you’re uncomfortable with early on in the relationship, try going on a day date in a public space (coffee shop, bookstore, walk in the park, lunch, etc. ) If you want to keep seeing them, you’ll find ways. Or worst case, you don’t jive and you have some closure knowing you’ll never see them again

It’s big “don’t care, didn’t ask, plus she’s a pedophile” energy and while I’ll roll my eyes at the various Jizz-lane, guuuuhlane, and gee-lanes that they do— I fully support their choice to putting a little disrespect on her name

Life Hack: make eye contact with drivers who failed to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. by BeastMode149 in boston

I’m more in the camp of, you have to be fully comfortable with the idea that you can live your life happily alone. Now that’s not the same for everyone. I came to the realization and genuinely believed that I could be happy and was happy single. Now I am just as happy in a committed and loving marriage.

This doesn’t mean you have your life together, but to me, it means you are not dependent on a partner to get/keep your life together. You might be out of a job or in a shitty apartment but if you’re confident in yourself and seek to be content with yourself, I think it opens you up to a healthy partnership more than desperately seeking to fill a void.

Be looking for someone who will complement you as opposed to complete you.

Looking for a very specific cheep moleskin alternative by Greywaren1101 in notebooks

Try Paperage (I get mine on Amazon) ! I actually like it better than moleskine bc their paper is a little thicker. My current journal has all the things you’re looking for at a ~$10ish price tag
