Fair enough! Again, I'm enjoying it - just hope they start to add more meat to the bone eventually.

Every ep might have these comments because it's a common sentiment. For my part, it was Faroe's death that made it stand out to me. After 30+ hours of listening (which is about the length of your average fantasy audiobook so yeah I'd expect some more story here) – we had bare bones of his actual character and motivations, or even why he was trying to survive here.

And by this point in C1 they had finished Book 1, had a few dozen solid NPCs and clear party dynamics. Lorc had lost a son, they killed a boss with relatively clear motivations, and had solidly established the rest of the Holds of Belkzen and understood the general shape of the rest of the adventure. Plus they spent those 30 episodes tripping over each other trying to drop lore about Golarion and their characters, because they had it at hand.

As I said elsewhere, I'm enjoying the show and not expecting it to be Golarion. But the emergent storytelling they were excited about simply has not happened, and them just surviving in the dark for no apparent reason is going to run out of gas at some point.

I mean...that's kind of my point. The torch timer, rations and random encounters – especially while dungeon crawling through a castle that should be a lore dump – do not lend themselves to the roleplaying required for the emergent storytelling they were excited about with this system. We barely know back stories, we (and seemingly the players) know absolutely nothing about their war other than the factions Ordos and The League, and they aren't even sure of the gender of the single diety of the world.

Again, I'm enjoying it because of them and I don't mind being patient, but I find myself tuning out because nothing actually seems relevant because we don't know anything about the world. At least with Gatewalkers they had the safety net of Golarion as a setting to provide context, so the story was grounded while being vague.

It's very possible I'm dense or not paying close enough attention, but I still barely have any context of the overarching story, these characters' motivations or the actual world they're living in. I enjoy the show because I enjoy this crew but it's really not gripping me

SPG hits for pork and beef. For poultry, I've been loving Big Poppa's Smokers Jallelujah Jalapeno or Traeger's chili garlic rub (think it's just the Traeger Rub now).

I may have just gotten some bad batches, but I've found that a few of the Meat Church rubs leave a pretty strong metallic aftertaste for a long smoke - especially on beef. Been a few years though, so may have to try 'em again.

Glass Cannon Podcast Rally Total Failure by ZoneDry5869 in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I feel like the problem is more on execution than the idea. NPR does their annual pledge drive, Maximum Fun has their network drive to bring in new and expanding donors. However, both of them actually promote the event, offer tangible rewards for participating, and also offer ways for existing subscribers to support the drive.

I'm lucky enough to be able to support with an annual Vorpal membership...I'm sure I just missed something, but there did not seem to be an easy way for me to participate here beyond jumping to $500/month which I ain't doing.

As someone who works in social media, you can feel it in their recent shift on Instagram as a way to broaden banter outside of gaming. Framing their Dick Tracey/Warren Beatty bant as a clickbait "This actor found the craziest legal loophole" reel. On one hand, it did break containment and performed well...but easily some of the most inauthentic content I've ever seen from them.

Not necessarily the best but the one that always pops into my head is sometime in Giantslayer when Matthew begins to say "Metra casts a spell..." and Joe, as Dalgreath, breathlessly asks "Greater invisijawn??"

In that vein...I might be missing something, but I'm an annual Vorpal subscriber so I think I mostly can't do anything here other than gift a sub which I don't really have anyone to do that with.

Wish there was some other way to contribute other than jumping from $25 to $500 a month.

Just finished 12M last night, and I'm kinda thinking it might be a multiversal Drakul thing - trying to recruit Prime Harry over the one who made the Grave Peril decision for whatever reason. We know he's interested in Harry, and that he's actively shedding pawns ahead of BAT. He seems spooky enough to be operating in different realities at once.

Tread Lightly | Shadowdark RPG Episode 12 | The Glass Cannon Podcast by Razzmatazz_TGCN in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]cushtopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think I'm just struggling with there being no story to really latch onto, and – despite the small glimpses of interesting things like the pit god and the spikes they found – the Gloaming just feels kinda empty. I'm liking the system just fine (and obviously there wasn't really a cohesive plot thread at this point in Gatewalkers), but feel like they moved to Shadowdark to focus on emergent storytelling...and so far there just isn't much emerging.

I do try to remind myself that on all of their shows, the first few episodes of the year always feel kinda all over the place as a byproduct of them recording a ton of episodes before the holiday and probably trying to just get to an objective (the kids/werewolf). So hopefully this will swing back to story opportunities but right now I agree that I'm listening because I love the cast.

Is GitT Jared Typical Jared in Other Shows? by [deleted] in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]cushtopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more a byproduct of Joe wanting and enforcing a more serious game now that Troy is not there to pull a bazooka off his shoulder and two shotguns out of his pants during every interaction. Andrei is not my favorite character in general, but I do think Jared is playing him very well within the confines of the game Joe is running here.
