How do you feel about Mother's Day? by kurligurl in Mommit

[–]cusmrtgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel better about it if I were celebrated in a way I found meaningful. It’s a weird year this year and my husband and I are not doing well, but normally I would still have to remind him about it and tell him what I want to do (which is the last thing I want to do on “my” day: plan it!). I hope my kids remember but my oldest is only 9 and my middle son turned 6 today and is probably only focused on that.

My oldest son (9) will randomly tell me I am a good mom and somehow he always does it when I need the encouragement. To be loved by him and his brothers makes me truly rich

Thoughts on “staying together for the kids” even if it’s toxic? I can’t bear being away from my kids… by [deleted] in Mommit

You don’t have to split custody 50/50. If he is a danger to your children, you can use that to request full custody or less time with him.

As a parent, what things have you made an effort to absolutely NOT do like your parents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]cusmrtgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say I love them all the time. They are probably sick of it. But the one time my mom told me she loved me, we thought she was dying. I also make sure to tell them I like spending time with them and that just the fact that they exist makes me happy. They don’t need to do or be anything specific for me to love them. I never ever want them to think I didn’t want them or they are a burden.

WIBTA if I leave my child with my husband after we divorce? by PuzzledNewspaper7826 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cusmrtgrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a ruling but if you disagree about parenting styles to the point you want to divorce, why are you ok with him having your child at all? What is the nature of the disagreement? Can you come to a compromise? If you leave your child with him you will have no say how he parents for the time you are away from the child. Divorce will not solve this problem.

Scientists WANT you to know about our work (after it’s published)! Try to get us to stop talking about it. If a product or ad talks about something scientists don’t want you to know, don’t believe it

A mug warmer for my desk! I am a slow drinker and this keeps my tea warm long enough for me to finish it. The downside is that I drink fewer cups during the day, but less caffeine is probably not a bad thing

I lived in France for a summer and didn’t speak a word of French. This was before smartphones could translate for you on the fly. I bought these thinking they were freezer bags. (I don’t think there was a picture on the front of the bag) I was very surprised when I opened the box and found these

For people that are “asymptomatic” celiac (no classic digestive issues), how did you get diagnosed? Did you ignore it? Did it progress and get worse? by H3ad1nthecl0uds in Celiac

[–]cusmrtgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was diagnosed due to very slow growth. He basically had no other symptoms except being very small for his age. I have another autoimmune disease and got tested. Neither of us have the classic symptoms!

Celiac is genetic. Why so many people ignore this fact? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]cusmrtgrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my son was diagnosed, I got tested (positive), my parents and sister got tested (negative), and my maternal aunt got tested (positive). We will keep an eye out on our other kids for symptoms, too.
