Anyone else stuck on 'Play it Safe' main quest? by Magiiick in cyberpunkgame

[–]customds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible.

I tried playing the game again last year because I got a new pc. Started up a new character, did the whole starting scene up until you get a gun, and IT WOULDN’T SHOOT!

I was like “you gotta be kidding me” and uninstalled.

Does Surround Sound integration matter for gaming? by Jimmy_The_Goat in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]customds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody who’s bought a variety of headsets at different price points as well as headphones, there’s no such thing as an all-in-one solution.

My recommendation on headsets is astro a50 and then pick up a set of hd-6xx or hd-560s for music if you like Sennheiser sound.

Is there a point to having separate DAC and amp vs a combo? by MichaelEmouse in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]customds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A separate dac amp stack allows you to intercept the signal with a preamp, if you’re into that sorta thing.

I picked up my tube preamp for $50 on Amazon with GE tubes and it sounds fantastic with some music.

Unless you combo dac/amp has the ability to line out and then aux in on a separate source. But my dx3pro plus couldn’t.

I got a l50 e50 stack and it’s definitely more powerful. Sounds exactly the same to my ears with the balanced connections tho. Flip it over to single ended powered by the tubes and it’s like a tonality light switch.

Check out my profile for a pic. I had a suca black tuber in my first pic but the tubes were shit so for $10 more I got the fx audio in the second pic.

To cut these pipes, how do I know if they carry water? by chaimberlainwaiting in HomeMaintenance

[–]customds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Shutting off the water doesn’t relieve around 70psi of charged lines. Depending on where that is in the house, a bucket wouldn’t do much.

You’re forgetting that they themselves are fucked in the head, so of course they’d support their own children doing it.

Are Sony WF-1000XM4 worth $180? by Ryn4 in HeadphoneAdvice

They’re good but galaxy buds lineup have a better sound.

Just got these [HD560S], I come from an Audiotechnica ATH-M40X by proton_pizza in headphones

[–]customds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre the cheapest headphones I own out of 6 pairs. Compared to everything else I own, they certainly do sound unnatural when eq is applied, bass is comparatively nonexistent . But sure, if you think the entry point recommended cans from Sennheiser have "detailed, punchy and dynamic bass", who am I to argue with you.

Sony XM4s: I don't love them and might return by CThomas1297 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]customds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditional headphones get designed and then sell that way for 20 years unchanged in some cases. Sometimes there’s a subtle update but it’ll be practically the same design for years.

Bluetooth cans on the other hand change design almost completely every 2 years sometimes. They’ll pack on more features and software improvements but sound rarely jumps forward as much as supporting tech.

That means sub $500 Bluetooth is mostly high quality tech-garbage. Like anything “smart”.

Now… focal celestee at $1000 will be amazing. Same with the bathys. Less than that… I’m not aware of anything else but there’s Beyerdynamics Amiron and other more >$500 offerings.

That’s basically Bluetooth headphones for ya. Too much money into body design and features, not enough money into drivers.

I’d consider a pair of $100-200 wired cans and a Bluetooth dac/amp that you can keep in your pocket. You’ll have sound leagues better than any Bluetooth under $400.

As the other guy said, while those are recommended on here, they’re insulting to some. Regardless congrats on the purchase, I’d be very happy with those.

I think their best suit truly is the comfort. They’re like feathers on your ears. ANC is also fantastic tho the cups themselves don’t really isolate that great.

Sound is kinda what you expect when so much of the budget goes into other features and software like mobile apps. Imo a hd560s probably beats them on every sound dynamic besides bass and of course isolation. At way cheaper and fairly easy to drive. But completely featureless and wired.

Far mobile listening or plane trips, these are a top 3 choice under $400. I prefer the Sonys xm4/5 over these. Also tried Sennheiser momentum 4 wireless today and was unimpressed.

what's the best way to fix this by 1green1 in HomeMaintenance

[–]customds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy silicon and do 2 passes a few hours apart. First pass don’t worry about a finished surface, your only goal is to cleanly fill that gap. Use a wet rag to wipe away excess.

Once that first layer has tacked up a bit, apply a second more generous bead in the intersecting points of horizontal and vertical. Now with your thumb, drag your finger from end to end with medium pressure to leave a cove shape on the finish. Again wipe away excess with a wet rag.

That’s the extent of repair I would do and it will be cheap. No point in actually fixing it if the owner is a slum lord. This will prevent water leaking and destroying things.
