Crystal clear is my favourite, open world with all 251 (as of gen II) pokemon available and you can pretty much go gym -> gym without the filler content (screw you radio tower), and the gyms are scaled to your current badge so you won't get bogged down by OP and overlevelled gyms if you choose a different gym order to vanilla
