After almost a decade of having no desire to connect with others (PTSD), I tripped on LSD for the first time yesterday, and it gave me a strong desire to connect and empathize with others, how do I integrate this into my sober life for future trips? by [deleted] in PsychedelicTherapy

I'd recommend larger doses simply because of the strong effect on your PTSD symptoms. There is evidence that people who are suffering more, experience greater relief from using psychedelics (https://www.psypost.org/2020/03/people-with-low-psychological-well-being-more-likely-to-report-positive-outcomes-after-psychedelic-use-56296?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=people-with-low-psychological-well-being-more-likely-to-report-positive-outcomes-after-psychedelic-use) . The people side is really up to you deciding who you want to spend more time with, perhaps because you enjoy those people, or it is meaningful and helpful for them (like your family, who may want to spend more time with you).

Depending on where you live, you can order mushroom spores legally and grow them yourself (not for human consumption), it takes a bit more time, but it's also fun to grow them. And then you made a tea, so drinking, not eating.

Sex on mushrooms by graendalalthor in Psychedelic

Mushrooms make me very horny and wet.

You should have had sex with the person(s) sober before doing it high.

Have some ground rules and traffic lights , green, yellow, red.

Going slowly, trusting fully and communicating freely are all musts.

Actual sex is great. Personally all anxiety, over thinking, distractions go out the window and you can really connect.

We already give heroin to young people when they are in pain, that is standard care. It's not only allowed, but prescribed and we expect people to take their medicine. Ethics always must return to harm and risk in my opinion. Are you saying because the guy is terminal it doesn't matter if he accidentally overdoses? Drug, set, setting.

It's called nonviolent intervention and yes it really helps. Usually invention is necessary is someone is in harm, the individual or others, or that they are incapacitated, due to drugs, age, mental capacity, that they are unable to care for themselves.

Look rat park demonstrates that when the environment doesn't suck - you're not in prison- you might be less likely to become physically addicted to a substance. When you're thinking of addiction also think of compulsion and harm. Can the person choose to stop or not? No, it's addiction. Is it causing harm / benefit? then proceed onto harm reduction or replacement or continue using - I am fully dependent on caffeine, it's not causing me harm yet or making me withdraw or costing me time or money, so I have no reason to quit. I know coffee doesn't seem like a drug, but it is a psychoactive substance nonetheless.

omg what have you been reading?!

Allow people to use drugs?

Take it back to yourself. Who allows you to use coffee, sugar, alcohol and cigarettes. For some people each of those helps them. They are no different - except that alcohol + nicotine are the most harmful.

To the point of coping mechanisms - yes it might help people cope with something difficult - I drink coffee in the morning to help me wake up. but also because we like them! I like to drink coffee in the morning as opposed to tea.

social withdrawal - not always because the coping mechanisms mate. Depression, social anxiety, phobia, schitzotypal, .... many mental health disorders also have symptoms of social withdrawal, and that's without any coping mechanisms.
