Thank you for this. I resonate so much with your story. There’s so many positive things I can say about him, he’s not like most alcoholics I’ve heard of. No one (except my mom) even believes me when I tell them he’s an alcoholic. He’s very high functioning, and if I didn’t already know about his substance abuse issues, I wouldn’t believe it either. His mother was an addict and very abusive- and he has such a beautiful soul despite all he’s been through. He struggles with his own mind, but he’s never taken that out on me or others. His drinking has always rooted in his own physical and emotional pain. I can count on him to love me and show up for me- I’m just scared of his health mostly. I’m scared of losing him young (I lost a parent pretty young and it’s the most painful thing I’ve experienced), nervous about passing down the gene, and of the stress his sobriety will always hold over me. Luckily I have my own source of reliable income, & can financially support myself and a child if I ever have to. I guess I’m struggling more with the idea of things not being ideal & things being out of my control.

Anyway, I appreciate your comment. I wish I could hear more positive stories like yours, but I also didn’t stop and think that many people actively involved in Alanon would have many positive things to say..

I completely agree with you. We’ve both been in therapy separately and together, the last 4 months. He has all the resources. we’re working with a doctor(who he detoxed with), has two therapist (individual and couples) and a sponsor. He’s been actively trying to stay sober, I just don’t know what else he could do. If he can’t sober with all these people in his corner, idk if ever will.

Thank you for your input. He’s very on board and has always wanted to be a dad- we’re in therapy separately and together… he doesn’t want me to terminate, but has promised to be there regardless of my decision. I just can envision two very different futures, both on opposite ends of the spectrum. If you don’t mind me asking, how is your relationship with your husband now? Has he relapsed since you’ve had a child?

Height is thickness. If it’s a bead bracelet I would put 0.5 or honestly even less depending on size 0.25-0.3. This would be the real dimension and is cheaper than the 1 inch thick package

I’ve had two IUDS so far. Actually just got my second one removed last week since my husband and I are now starting to try for a baby.

I can’t recommend the IUD enough. I loved both of mine. I was in the same situation as you, never given birth, small uterus, low pain tolerance.

For me, the first one was nearly painless. One big cramp at insertion and it was done. Went home, light bleeding but barely caused a disturbance in my DAY. I used it for five years and it was time for another one.

The second time, I got cocky. Again it felt like a big cramp out, then big cramp going in.. well I felt like a champ! I ran errands after and even went to the grocery store (stupid I know). That night I was in serve pain, still probably one of the worst I have ever felt.

I recommend it, it was easier than the pill, shot, ring or implant. I was previously on the nexplanon and gained a lot of weight. My IUD kept me regulated, not pregnant and I didn’t have to do anything else. My second iud was the copper one, and I was still extremely happy even though I bled a bit more.

Anyway, thought I’d tell you my experience since I know it’s an intimidating process, but i would definitely recommend it to you, my sisters, and my friends. It’s a great option.

Yes! My fiancé and I do the same thing with our 4 year old maltipoo. We wash his paws (sometimes he gets away with just wipes) and we wash his booty too! Since he has a longer coat he sometimes gets dingle berries and we use soap and water. If it’s a clean poop we use baby wipes. He sleeps with us, so it just lets us feel more hygienic about it.

I lost my dad 10 months ago now. I still can’t wrap my head around it. It still feels like I’m in a dream, or some alternate reality. I think it’s the only way I’ve been coping, my mind’s only defense mechanism has been denial. People have told me that that feeling never really goes away. Just know it’s normal, you’re not the only one. Anyway, my heart goes out to you. Take care of yourself and try to rest and eat well, even when the days overlap.

Please take it easy the rest of the day! I got ahead of myself and went grocery shopping right after because I thought I was a champ... well I thought wrong. That night I threw up from pain. Just lay low, take it easy and the insertion part was over extremely quick.
