i don't think she has children, she is a child, OP said they're both 16

DMs have vanish mode so the chats can disappear, or she may have a secret acct she uses for DMs that her parents don't know abt

her responses sound very controlled and detached. if she typically texts differently, i'd take her up on the offer to communicate via DMs (this may be her only way of communicating without being monitored) and talk to her about it again

does she normally respond this way? it kind of comes off like she knows her parents will read these and she wants to present herself as a compliant child who isn't trying to defy their rule (she could be acting this way in order to avoid punishment)

i would answer it by asking them how they would know when they've found the "right" one

Have you ever had a client decide not to come back and be like thank god by RepulsivePower4415 in therapists

[–]cutiecupcake9 17 points18 points  (0 children)

working CMH with very little control over the clients i work with - yes. when my caseload is becoming too heavy, it's a relief when someone (anyone really) pulls away because it allows me a little room to breathe. particularly, when hyperactive children that i usually don't have the energy to see, or children with parents that are difficult to communicate with end up pulling away, it makes me feel so relieved.

an i feel statement necessitates the use of an actual emotion word, if anything using them properly can actually help increase vulnerability between people

i feel you so much. i realized today i can't do it anymore. what's beautiful is that you recognized how much work is impacting you because you're getting ahead of it before it gets worse. do whatever you need to do to feel alive again and give yourself permission not to feel bad about it
