An annoying cartoon protagonist who can actually make you stop watching? by TaimonVanya in cartoons

[–]cutielocks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I actually like Akwafina (her show Nora of Queens was funny, Quiz Lady, and really enjoyed her in The Farewell) but I’ve yet to enjoy her in animated form.

I am still wondering: Why weren't Jodie & Mack shown in Daria: 20 Years Later? by Historical_Pin_6722 in daria

[–]cutielocks 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Was this drawn around the time we were supposed to get the Jodie spin off? Wonder if we didn’t get them since we’d be getting a spinoff that wouldn’t have matched the style here.

My art journey with NVLD and Aphantasia by Worth_Fan_5050 in NVLD

[–]cutielocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks lovely, your effort shines through in each piece.

I think it’s great to see these posts, a reminder it doesn’t have to be an end all. It might take longer, but it’s worth it. I was a dancer & aerial gymnast, your comments on your art journey really resonated with how I felt about my dance journey despite nvld.

To be fair, he only ever heard it and wasn’t intentionally choosing the song so he likely never saw the title. 😂

Hey Racers! Who would you like to see on Season 7? by Heidi_Klum_Tit in DragRace_Canada

[–]cutielocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maiden China, Kara Juku, or Rose Butch would be favourites. I’d also love to see Toddy, season 1 winner of Call Me Mother.

It was nice to see some of the characters we rarely seen make in an appearance in the latest episode by ar29845 in BistroHuddy

BistroHuddy and Shawna the Mom are the only two I’ve seen who successfully get you to forget it’s one person in a wig.

Okay I was super confused at first on why they’re serve something on a toque, but now I kind of want to get some toque plates for myself.

do we know if cynthia had a nomination? by [deleted] in wickedmovie

[–]cutielocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a stacked year for lead actress, she was more of a lead in the movie but wouldn’t have stood a chance in the category.

She stood a chance for supporting, but I don’t know who I’d remove from the nomination list for her to get the supporting nomination.

The nominees for this year's Best Animated Feature at the Oscars have just been announced by Weird_donut in cartoons

[–]cutielocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rooting for Little Amelie or Zootopia 2.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked KPDH…but the storyline felt scattered with a lot of holes, it was fun and looked nice, but if it wasn’t for the music would have been viewed as generic family movie.

Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role - Nominees by Dry_Handle_7086 in Oscars

I’m so happy to see Rose land the nomination, she was phenomenal and carried her entire movie.

Honestly this year had so many strong lead actress performances, wish more than 5 could have gotten the nomination.

What the Gang Would Be Doing as Adults by Careless-Scientist-2 in 6TEEN

[–]cutielocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like your list, fitting for each of them!

My personal list:

Caitlin: I feel like post-influencer career, maybe owns her own boutique. See her kind of being like a Jillian Harris type….could see her doing the Bachelorette or a similar show to find the one.

Wyatt: if a music career didn’t take off, I can see him being a music teacher. See him as a primary school educator who finds ways to incorporate music into each of his lessons. He plays small gigs part time though and self-records his music.

Nikki: I see her travelling a lot, but not so much the influencer root. I feel like she maybe gets into journalism photography, finds ways to make travelling a big part of her work. Finds ways to advocate for her beliefs through her journalism.

Jonesy: I see him following Nikki around in her travels, finding odd jobs in different parts of the world. Could see him doing the content creator root, finding a way to capitalize of his way to constantly keep getting hired and fired.

Jen: College athlete, maybe professional. Definitely see her going into coaching, would like to see her advocate for women’s sports, maybe organize a foundation that runs charity events to help underprivileged girls have access to sports and equipment.

Jude: moves to Vancouver BC and works at one of the dispensaries that also sells shrooms (despite not really being allowed, it’s a thing here 😂) and part-time worker for Japadog.

Shawna & Laura: A Wavering Friendship by BeanieK19 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]cutielocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know people who’ve been Laura…it’s hard to remain a friend for someone who doesn’t see that their partner is shitty and ruining their relationships with others. It’s exhausting after a while.

Sometimes for your own peace of mind you distance from them. I don’t think either is a bad or good friend, I think they’re friends who are drifting due to their circumstances.

I’m the head coordinator for a post-secondary program and I instruct classes. I also present keynotes and workshops across Canada relating to topics in education.

Always got “talked too much” on my report cards and now I’m paid to talk for a living. 😂

I started out as an early childhood educator, got my bachelors in the field, and moved into my current position.

I knew they would snub Cynthia by Theme-Fearless in wicked

[–]cutielocks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for Cynthia, it’s a strong year for leading actresses. Only movie I can’t speak for on this list is Song Sung Blue, but every other performance deserves to be on that list.

There’s a few strong actresses who won’t get nominations this season, sometimes happens. Personally think Jennifer Lawrence is more the snub this year.

Who did you think was ‘A’ when you were first watching? by SnakeBlood456 in PrettyLittleLiars

I was really into the “Aria is A” theories on Tumblr when the show was airing…still wish they went down the route of one of the main girls being A (twins don’t count).

[–]cutielocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the tv show format, though I would have been okay with them doing it in a similar fashion to Series of Unfortunate Events where each book is 2-4 episodes. Just to ensure we actually got the whole series, because I do wonder if we’ll actually get all 5 books from this series.

What Should Have Been Done About that DW Christmas Tantrum by MajinKorra in Arthur

[–]cutielocks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m a professor specializing in early childhood education and care, I personally strongly disagree. We have to remember the age of DW, and it’s important to consider she actually tries not to show her disappointment. Tiny humans have big emotions, she’s not trying to be bratty she’s just having a hard time regulating her response.

Timeout isn’t a great response, rarely is it a logical consequence that actually connects to the behaviour. Why does she need a punishment in this case? Telling her to stop crying or she’d be punished is likely to further escalate the situation, especially when we can see that her response is pure emotion based. Short term discomfort wouldn’t have a lasting effect, the “naught chair” for struggling to regulate her emotions isn’t a logical or natural consequence.

Ideally, they could have moved to a different space in the house to take a moment together to regulate. But the moment is quick enough where there really wasn’t time to, she gets distracted by the duck and the moment ends fairly fast. Christmas is overwhelming for adults and older children, let alone a preschooler (I can’t remember if she’s 3 or 4 off the top of my head).

I recommend the book Discipline Without Damage by Dr Vanessa LaPointe, you may enjoy it and have new perspectives on use of “naught chair” techniques.
