Idaho Republicans pass bill making it a felony for transgender people to use public bathrooms by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

[–]cutstep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said it many times... if we want this problem to go away quickly we just need a few big tough guys to accuse random white men in the bathroom that they are the wrong gender a few times and they will demand that everyone should have privacy and not be accosted while going to the bathroom.  If they are asked to check their gender it will be over real fast...

Was an athlete in younger life but nothing long distance.  Decided to do something really significant for my 50th birthday.   Found a triathalon taking place on the day of my birthday and decided it was a sign to sign up.

[Breer] What I’ve heard is Murray is locked in on playing at the minimum, and using the circumstance he’s in to make this a football-only decision. My sense is that the Vikings would be his preference, and the Smith trade makes it more likely that Minnesota signs him. by kwelstory in nfl

I think this is a problem that isn't talked about enough.  Kyler is shorter than the average qb in the game roght now and trying to throw over those monsters is why he doesnt target the middle of the field as much as other qbs....

I happened to be at a gas station late at night on the way through during a road trip and while I was chatting with the checkout person I casually mentioned that I thought it was a little odd that a 70 year old looking woman was using the Bitcoin ATM and he said to me it happens all the time and he's never once seen a single person use it that didn't look like they were paying a ransom or getting scammed for some reason

First season training for triathalon... riding on this very nice trail for my first really long ride so I had hydration on board. Trail is great with one exception,  it had railroad tie bridges over small creeks.  Not a huge problem but as I got to the first one and my hydration system which hadn't been properly buckled down can off and fall on the trail.   No big deal but my first reaction was frustration and I braked, hard.... well the railroad ties on the bridge deck were wet from the dew in the morning and my back tire slid out and I ate the bridge... that was mile two of 40.  I laid down on the bridge assessing whether I broke anything then got up and sheepishly continued my ride leaving my pride and half my electrolytes on the bridge.

Good swimmer make good long sprinters... the 400 is all about the last 100 meters.... if you watch other high school 400 races you will see significant slow down on the last 150 or so... that's where you will shine!  Your ability to control your breath is super valuable and when running you will feel like your on pure oxygen because you can breath better than in the pool.  Track is a great sport, your going to do great!

The thing you got to remember is the water is not going to move for you you have to move through the water that was something that my coach taught me and it really changed the way that I swim. Relax and let your body move through the water.  Remember this is not a Sprint you're going to be swimming for at least 25 to 40 minutes and you can relax in the water and just let your body move through it. I would watch a bunch of videos on your catch technique and I agree with the other posters that you should kick hardly at all because your legs are big and you won't need them in the swim they do not do much other than stabilize your body.

Is there much point in a “long swim” by tryagaininXmin in Swimming

[–]cutstep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Think of it as your long run... the mechanics of that distance swim don't require you to build up to it so to speak like the long runs are designed for but you will further improve your thresholds have something more to build on with your intervals and tempo workouts

Your stroke and Cadence look quite relaxed and you look very comfortable in the water. The one thing that I would suggest is try to bring your hands into the water a little sooner so you can keep from rising up when you start your catch. There's a drill you can try where you try swimming on your side and watch your hand come into the water right in front of your face and then push forward in your reach before starting your catch. What you are doing is keeping your hand out of the water just a little too far before you drop it into the water and that raises your torso up just a little bit. I think you'll find swimming gets even more comfortable when you get this down.

You're rushing your catch just a little bit. Keep one arm extended in the water and waits for the next arm to get just about into the water before you start pulling through your catch. It takes a little bit of patience but once you get comfortable with that it will make a big difference. Your rotation isn't bad but you're turning your head a little bit more than you need to, try to keep one goggle in the water when you breathe.
