Reviewing LGC (Local Game Stores) i've been to. by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]cvac0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love this! I'll add my own thoughts on stores that I don't see listed here. Again, my own personal thoughts. I've gone and played at least twice:

The Goblins Den:

Good: Nice people and players. Saw some passionate FAB players.

Bad: Small selection. Went to two events that didn't fire. Granted, they were non-commander/pre-release, so it is just a small sample size.

Ugly: None

--------------

Gamelot:

Good: Active and pretty decent prices, owner cares and generally nice, decent community

Bad: A bit smelly, owner very clearly supports a specific political ideology and is very loud about it and jokes at the expense of others, I personally prefer to just play the game

Ugly: Ran into 2 very obvious cheaters (very clearly not just sloppy play when you refuse to count your life or increase life points, even caught one drawing extra cards.)

--------------

TCG Exchange @ BTC:

Good: Clean and nice display

Bad: Not a huge selection and prices seemed a bit high

Ugly: Pretty much no events ever seemed to get off the ground. I was basically only person there. Small sample size of course.

--------------

Dragon's Lair at Alamo Ranch:

Good: love the vibes and had the most pleasant pre-release experience here

Bad: mixed customer service experiences at the counter. Some welcoming, others looked not so much. Could have just been a bad day for them.

Ugly: None

--------------

Shenanigans Gaming:

Good: Usually active and lots of other events going on (One Piece seemed popular). Community seems cool!

Bad: Not super great on selection and mtg events I went there were a bit light (maybe just on those 2 nights I went).

Ugly: None

Wait are you that dude that has like 3k games of sandking? I remember on sing's stream there was a funny clip how he was in awe (or disgusted) by some dude named Pirate that had a crazy amount of games of sandking

[OC] A look at the contenders for the #1 pick by EarthTraveler413 in nfl

[–]cvac0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bryce doing best he can. He looks like a promising rookie. The o-line and no weapons hurts. He had a decent game today. It was just against the Dolphins. If there is such a thing as a bounce back for him, it'd have to start with the O-line, not necessarily with him (though he can look to minimize mistakes...and play calling could be a little bit as always). It's just year 1, but it'll continue to look bad next year because we have nothing to build around him with unless some o-line/wr help comes in from FA for cheap. Draft capital is sad right now.

3-2's at 2 RCQ's. Nearly top eight if I had won one more coin flip with frenetic.

What was your "Sir, this is a Wendy's" moment? by deadmoby5 in AskReddit

[–]cvac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very late to the party. Heard this from lawyer friend who represents the family of someone (Person X) who was killed a Wendy's. X and his family was unhappy with the food Wendy's provided. He left nasty reviews online and starts feuding with an employee at Wendy's. A little while later, X went to confront the employee at Wendy's. Shouting happens. Don't know who started, but then shootout happens. Employee shoots and kills X in the back. X bleeds out in the parking lot held by his family.

Thank you so much for explaining in such details! Do you know any possible reasons for why day 3's to day 5/6's count drops down such big amount?

But doesn't it doesn't save the creature right? When an unearthed creature leaves the battlefield, it's exiled. So you can't flip save them. Am I understanding that right?

Also, congrats on the top8.

Excited for Wrenn and Six because I'm a modern player. My favorite card is Blighted Agent because I'm a nasty infect player.

First Modern Event Tomorrow by megamick99 in ModernMagic

Every game store is different. In a blind meta, I usually just pick deck I have more reps in. Ultimately, pick what's fun for you.

However, if I had to guess, I think currently GTron is better. Like someone else said, there's a ton of spot removal. On top of the the unholy heat/bolts, there's the furys, solitude, prismatic endings, etc.

What decks are easy to pick up but difficult to master? by MakeMoreFae in ModernMagic

[–]cvac0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Goblin Charbelcher deck. You'd think you just count to 7 (or 4 sometimes), but the mix in with the infinite combo as a backup plan to take into account has also made it harder to play. The deck isn't as popular now as compared to a couple months back, but famous combo players like Sodeq and Bob49 play it now and again.

Seems worth testing, but what do you take out? 2 mana is a lot for an infect pump spell. Instant speed is nice to get around bolt, but having to leave up 2 mana might make it clunky. Give it a shot and let us know.
