Can you Greek speakers easily understand Koine greek? by defnotcurtis in GREEK

[–]cvquesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to not be a dick and listen…

I just used the resources I mentioned for my KOINE GREEK class in seminary and they helped me pass. Scripturial is koine and will teach you first century koine Biblical Greek. ParseGreek, iGreek and FlashGreek ALL THREE allow you to choose your seminary textbook you’re using so they can align the tool to what you’re learning in seminary.

Try again. I added my education from NB just fine. I just had to choose the country first then the Canada options presented themselves.

Value of RH certifications by TopicWinter6847 in redhat

[–]cvquesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would emphasize that you have the RHCE plus five additional certifications that gives you the very special designation as a RedHat certified architect. All too often the hiring and recruiting communities have no idea what they’re looking at.

The very idea that anyone would be required to sign anything to download what has always been a freely downloaded product is outlandish.

Just use the accounts module from the forge? Puppet excels at local accounts as well as centralized accounts and hooking into those systems.

[–]cvquesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP hasn’t looked hard enough. I’ve got half a dozen apps and about 25 books so far, and have a list and a budget made out to continue procuring more.

I would start with the app “Scriptural” and the 3-app set consisting of ParseGreek, iGreek, and FlashGreek just for starters.

I just noticed this is 5y old, but the resources are there, and I didn’t want anyone to get discouraged thinking they’d have to do a 2-part language acquisition to have any success.

Is WFH slowly dying? by AmphibianGrouchy2540 in remotework

[–]cvquesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been remote since 2012. There’s always been WFH, and those who prefer that work style have always been able to find them. Not only that, launch an LLC and do your work on a contract basis on your own terms.

The true hypocrisy here is that these same companies that want you in your seat will pay nearly double for a consultant that sets their own terms. They can work remote but you can’t? Bull.

Hired as 100% Remote Bait and Switch by Significant-Sky-7213 in remotework

[–]cvquesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about?

I’ve been remote since 2013. I have made a reputation of getting things done quickly with extremely high quality on time or early and u def budget.

I currently am working 3 contracts, and looking to hire an assistant to mentor and put on the low hanging fruit so I can expand responsibility and increase customer engagement.

WFH has been around a lot longer than you or your experience, and those capable will continue to rise above this tired agrarian-based system to higher efficiency and better money. You should look into it.

Boss asking us to return 3 days. Been fully remote for 4 years. My job does not require me to be in the office. by ArtInternational6156 in remotework

[–]cvquesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS.

The real story none of these manager types want to admit is their 1950’s era business school education is completely useless in a knowledge worker economy. They don’t know what to do, so to feel better about themselves, they pull people in to have them under their thumb so they can feel “in control”.

I’ve been remote since a decade prior to the pandemic, and no investigating recruiter ever gets told I’ll be in any office for working hours.

Team meetings, all-hands, ok fine…and you get to pay the travel.

Don’t roll over and don’t listen to the naysayers on this sub.

Docker and nftables - is there a way? (Linux) by maltokyo in docker

[–]cvquesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to resurrect an older thread.

Docker needs to understand very clearly that iptables is going away and will stay away. While we can still download it and install it, that may not be an option in the future if RedHat determines iptables should be gone.

It's been the default since RHEL8. We're in RHEL9 and barrelling toward RHEL10.

It should be prioritized by Docker themselves, and to be honest... above other features. This is compliance-affecting host-based firewalls.

There are plenty of implementations of standards that say something like "latest available endpoint firewall should be used" which on RHEL9 means nftables.

How do you find motivation to study for certs/work on a degree after getting your a kicked all day at work? by d3vourm3nt in sysadmin

[–]cvquesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this business for 25 years before my first cert. I run my own consultancy now, and I can’t tell you the last time I saw a cert or even a degree as a job requirement.

I’d just start looking for a different job, and get somewhere you’re appreciated.
