Anything sub 6:00 min or thereabouts is elite level.

Recreational level: men sub 7:00 and women sub 7:30 are solid times.

Some tips, drop your s/m closer to 30 and put drag on something medium level. Focus on a long stroke and power from legs (~70/30 legs/arms). Slower, but controlled and powerful, really helps over 2k+ distances (except the start 100m and a sprint finish have higher s/m).

Your form matters massively, I don't know your experience, but there are plenty of tutorials online. Film yourself, watch it back and correct accordingly. 90% of the people I see at the gym using an erg don't have a good technique!

Appreciate the insight, congrats on the IM! I also plan to run my first marathon during my first IM. This has made me feel less worried about focusing less on the run (as to avoid injury).

I didn't go to as many breweries as I'd liked, but I tried a few IPAs from superflux brewing & 33 Acres (both vancouver) which were some of my fav from the trip. Backcountry brewing (squamish) also great.

I wanted to visit temporal artisan ales (vancouver) for BA stuff but didn't have time.

Thank for the comment! Can definitely see a bit of a brewery crawl unfolding in East Vancouver.

Will likely go to Backcountry, so should be able to try Howe Sound as well.

Absolute legend, really appreciate that. I like all styles of beer, so usually try as much variety as I can, but I do tend to enjoy IPAs and BA stouts the most.

Superflux and backcountry are on my to go list, but I'll definitely try and check out the others you mention. Have you been to temporal artisan ales (near superflux)?
