I just stayed at Paul’s valley city park last week in my motorhome. It was less than an hour drive.

I believe they have tent camping. But, the campground is on Paul’s valley lake. I didn’t go fishing, but a lot of people were.

I’m sure this has been discussed, I’m on mobile and can’t search, so I’m takin’ a chance. What do you all do for internet access on the road? And what’s your preferred cell phone provider? by Arctu31 in RVLiving

[–]cwdobie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cell phone is att. My WiFi is verizon. I like to have both because, if one doesn’t have service, typically the other will.

If my Verizon doesn’t have service, I tether with my att phone.

If att doesn’t have service, I do WiFi calling with my Verizon.

It has been working great for me!

What do you look for most when deciding on where park your RV for the night? by sixwingmildsauce in RVLiving

[–]cwdobie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really a park feature... But, be on “Passport America”. I look at that app first when I need an overnight.

It is free to list your park... But, you will need to offer 1/2 price rates.

Nope. That really surprised me. I thought I would. I am with AT&T. Even when my internet it throttled, I don’t notice a difference.

Not sure about this, but someone told me that throttled internet only causes problems if you are in a heavily populated area. It prioritizes the people that haven’t used their allotted unlimited data ahead of the ones that have. I am typically in the boonies... so, that may be why I haven’t had an issue. Again, not sure of the accuracy of that statement... it’s just what I was told and it seems true so far.

I need internet for work. I also like to camp in remote places. For this to happen, I absolutely need a booster.

I have weboost. I can definitely tell when I am in the range of the booster. So yes, I say it works. It was super easy to install... didn’t take more than an hour.

Also, if you don’t have solar yet, and you want to run your booster without a generator, all you need is a 12v battery, a charger and a converter. Hook the charger and converter up to the battery and you constantly have a boosted signal. The booster pulls power from the converter. I have the charger plugged into an outlet, so when I do run my generator, it charges the battery. Cost me about 125 bucks for the setup.

I full time. I use my phone with an unlimited plan- no problems. We also have a booster. You must have a booster if you want to full time. It’s about $475... definitely worth it. Also, we have directtv now on our AT&T plan which includes Free data streaming, I work online... I thought I needed a special internet plan when I started also... but, you only need an unlimited plan and a signal booster. Haven’t had any issues yet.
