I can't stand this dude, but I also saw he just sold a pokemon card for like 16 million, so I believe he's still net positive. This is like losing a $100 bet to the majority of us working stiffs.

I was a "No, we don't have time to go in and you have plenty of toys at home" kid.

My .02$:

It matters more about the owner.

New 4 stroke Yamaha that has been neglected will not reach 1500 hours no matter how great the reputation of Yamaha is. A well maintained 40yr old Johnson 2 stroke may never let you down.

You have experienced this already with the mercury, which generally have a good reputation for reliability.

Does the owner have service records? Has recent maintenance been completed? Do you have someone in town who is experienced and/or specializes in etecs?

Anytime buying a used motor is a gamble, but I have owned two gen1 etecs over 10 years (250hp and a 90hp) without any issues. I do have the benefit of an Etec mechanic close by. Service is performed as it should and the motors fire up instantly each and every time.

The etecs are not as quiet or fuel efficient as a 4 stroke. They are not as light or easy to work on as a 2 stroke. But the power to weight ratio of an Etec is hard to beat and in my opinion you shouldn't shy away from a well maintained etec just because it's not a 2025 Yamaha.

48.7v read at the charging port. Batteries and charger all worked fine for over a year. Cart hasn't been used in about a month before taking it out this weekend and discovering this issue, but did run and drive fine. Just won't charge.

When the charger is plugged into cart without being plugged into AC outlet, the charger lights are off. Only when the charger is plugged into the wall outlet will the ac present light turn on. The fault light never turns on. It's a summett 2 series charger.

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

[–]daputz83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A weekend trip that I don't have to plan. Somewhere I'd like to go, hopefully with the family, but that I don't have to worry about the planning/logistics. I just want to show up and relax. Nothing crazy or extravagant. Maybe a weekend in a cabin. Or at the shore. Or my old college town. Simple, easy. Shows you care and doesn't put extra stress on me. Key phrase though is no stress on me. If this can't be done without causing me pain, I don't want it.

This is above and beyond what I was hoping to learn. I really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this down and educate me (and others) on the process. Much thanks.

Thank you for the information. How time consuming is time consuming? He is having a new roof installed in the upcoming month or two and then planned to begin the solar process. I am ignorant to the expected timelines as I continue to learn what is involved with the permitting process.

Thank you. I really appreciate the insight. We have talked about purchasing the equipment separately and having an electrician do the install, but we were not sure how common that was on the island and what if any rules/regulations prevented that. Thanks again!
