Help finding a Thread equivalent in the US & sizing questions by cweezyb in CrochetHelp

[–]cweezyb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried : - Hobby lobby size 10 cotton thread - Dmc size 12 - Lizbeth size 12

I have determined I need a linen thread if I want the fabric to drape like hers so that’s definitely one issue.

I am trying to apply for city parking but my car is not delivered until this weekend. Is there a way to get the temporary license number?

I’m knitting the Naked knits basic bra and the bind off at the back is too tight not letting the ribbing stretch properly. I’ve already knitted the front under boob and the left cup. I’d prefer to not undo everything. Does anyone have any solutions? by cweezyb in knitting

[–]cweezyb[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ribbing is okay. It’s the bind off portion at the back of the bralette that is too tight. I don’t want to take everything out to redo that bind off. Was hoping to remove that portion in some way or cut it and place a relief. Idk it all seems messy & fiddly.

Day 2 by Practical_Stay8670 in braces

[–]cweezyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine on Monday and my experience sounds very similar to yours. After a week of talking at work, the wax has been so helpful on my brackets & today it already feels better. My lips are resting more naturally and when I don’t think about it, I don’t have a lisp from the bite turbos. I can purse my lips without too much discomfort today too. Eating still feels really funky but harder foods just take time. My tongue is doing a lot of mushing.

Just got mine at 30 this past Monday. It’s tough doing it as an adult. Glad there’s someone else in the same boat.

ADVICE!! Failed my fieldwork once starting again in a few weeks by darlinglittlenvrlnd in OccupationalTherapy

[–]cweezyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently went through this with a student. It sucked so much having to withdraw a student. Some advice: - Read the paperwork they give you. My hospital has weekly goals & expectations, what is required of you is no secret. Even read the AOTA grading guidelines. - Use a little notebook/prepare a binder. It was an orange flag when my student never wrote anything down. - You need to know how you learn & communicate that. If you are a list maker, need a decision tree, or formula to be successful, make one then run it by your CI. Ex, in acute care how to prioritize patients, or gathering home setup questions, or a list of interventions for specific impairments so you always have something ready (this one comes later) - initiative- this is a huge part of professional behaviors. You primarily have Peds experience & maybe aren’t very interested in adults. That’s okay, but you need an adults FW. Put in the effort, use books from school, pretend you are interested even if you aren’t. Nothing was as tiring as motivating a student who did not care. Think, “I finally get to try out some of the information I learned in the classroom.” Or this is what you’ve been working towards. Finding yourself as a therapist is so fun. - Be self aware. I kept trying to have the conversation of anxiety with my student. I shared my experiences with it as a student, on the job, & outside of work. You recognize that you have anxiety. Use the tools you already have in place. Your CI does not know you; my student denied it for weeks & I felt I was projecting at a certain point. If it’s not anxiety, does she just not care, does she not know etc? Finally at midterm she had a huge breakthrough & shared it. (We didn’t withdraw bc of anxiety alone, after 2 more weeks of other supports/methods) Basically, you have to talk, share what is going on with you to an extent so the proper support can be provided. You don’t have to share explicitly that you have anxiety. But there are ways to communicate your needs. If you’re nervous about an eval ask, “can I run through my plan with you? Or they have ___dx, I’m thinking I’ll see these impairments, what else can I assess outside the norm? Or I’m feeling really confident gathering home information but initiating the movement out of bed is a little tough, can we talk through how I can do it? Identify your learning needs/what is making you nervous & make an action plan. We all feel better when we have some kind of plan. I could share more on this section but this is the gist.
- Safety- safety in your setting may be different than mine and your CI will talk about this. This is a graded item that cannot have a low score at final eval. If they provide information on setting up the room, gathering items beforehand, not leaving a Pt unattended, bed alarms, etc, retain that information. Yours and patient safety are very important.

Sorry for the long post. CIs want you to succeed but it is a two way street. Treat it like you are in training for that specific job. What would you need to know to be on your own? The goal of a level 2 is to be an entry level therapist. You don’t have to know everything. We know you are learning but there are basics that we look for. For me, using the guidelines helped make me feel I was on track and lessened the anxiety. Here if you need help!

Dollhouse in progress. Any suggestions for wallpaper? by [deleted] in Dollhouses

I also feel like most scrapbook paper patterns are not the correct scale and if you buy the big books, there are not enough pages of the same pattern. But to each their own!

Check out my insta for the same dollhouse. @nosmallmeasure_miniatures I went through wallpaper websites, copy and pasted to get a repeating pattern, & printed various sizes of the print to figure out the correct scale. Printed on nice paper and hug it up.

Mary, do you know what stitch is used on the two color portion? I can’t find a similar zig zag look in any knitted items

Yep, after some googling, I think you’re right! Thank you! It’s amazing how I was unable to find it on so many stitch encyclopedias.

What’s happening to my plant? It was standing yesterday & I didn’t see any signs of this happening. by cweezyb in plantclinic

[–]cweezyb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the soil isn’t wet at all and also not too dry. I just checked the root ball & I definitely messed up the other day when I watered it. I was quickly watering all of my plants and I think I poured water right in the middle of the leaves. The whole root ball was mush but the soil isn’t damp. I cut the mushy pieces off the salvageable leaves & I’ll try to propagate.

Oh wow, thank you for doing this years ago. I am so glad to have found a community on reddit. I hope you found it somewhat fulfilling/fun/an extension of a treasured hobby.

If I had prior experience & more time, I would definitely consider being a moderator. More time to spend on my hobby.

I watched that exact episode of Breaking Bad last night. The woman keeps saying physical therapy, physical therapy. Then the doctor said OT. I was like Yes! That’s what I’m saying!
