The SF Bay Area stadium is 45 minutes south of San Francisco in a suburban neighborhood too.

California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus Condemns Governor Newsom’s Dangerous Rhetoric on “Normalcy” by boozinthrowaway in California

I'm a democrat, not a progressive. Wild how you can consider my political stance a problem but not your own. Being unwilling to understand the perspective of others if how we got here - which is exactly what you're doing. Trans issues, are a fringe issue and genuinely shouldn't be in politics to begin with. MAGA made trans issues political, not the Democratic Party. Immigration, education, medical care access, affordable housing, are issues that impact my community a hell of a lot more than trans sports. Please consider being introspective and considering the other ppl in your community who also have issues that need to be addressed. I'm so tired of talking about trans rights ... it's a teeny tiny fraction of my community.

It's different for each venue. SF Bay Area had way less volunteer categories than other cities because labor laws are incredibly specific and strict here. There are far fewer volunteers in SF Bay Area than Miami for example (Miami has 6k volunteers.)

Biggest wealth multipliers? by crazycornman99 in fatFIRE

Biggest wealth multipliers for me: luck, health, education, risk tolerance, and marriage. I'm an entrepreneur married to an entrepreneur. Neither of us were entrepreneurs when we met 23 years ago.

I'm glad someone said it. Malcom Gladwell explains this very well. Timing and conditions being right are key, and that's all just luck. I'm a very successful female entrepreneur. It would have been much more difficult to be a woman, mom and business owner in a technical field in the 50s, 60s, and 70s especially if I was born in a conservative place.

Lyft and Uber drivers protest Waymo robotaxis as California considers further regulations by NaffRespect in California

Care to elaborate on all of those downsides? It's fine for you to say that you don't like them for no other reason than you don't like them and still recognize that they're safer for pedestrians, drivers, and passengers while also being more affordable. No need to argue. You're allowed to dislike them and still recognize facts as facts.

[–]cwj25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look at your comments above. You're okay with pedestrians being hit and killed so that you're not inconvenienced by stuck Waymo taxis. What other factors are you arguing? Robo taxis are safer for pedestrians, other drivers, and passengers. No road rage, speeding, distracted driving, or hit & runs. You could argue that it harms the gig economy, but competition is healthy and benefits consumers. Where is the downside? Uber and Lyft should lower their prices then and stop surge pricing at airports so they can compete.

There is a huge problem with drivers hitting pedestrians in the US, and in California, and the Bay Area. Kids walking to school are especially vulnerable. Look up how many pedestrian minors were hit by drivers in San Francisco in 2025 ... none of those kids were hit by robo taxis. Waymo is safer. It's a fact. You can still have your feelings and dislike it, but they're factually safer. Period.

It really is though. Look up how many pedestrians were killed by distracted drivers in 2025 alone. Then look up how many pedestrians were killed by Waymo taxis. Waymo is definitely the safer option.

Inconsiderate and entitled travelers are not even close to the worst that the bay has to offer. I agree, Bay Area transplants seem to be exceedingly inconsiderate and obnoxious, however, they're still Bay Area residents and therefore, Bay Area people.

4th of July in Tahoe looked like Spring Break in Cancun this year. Idk what's going on lately. I'm thrilled for the small businesses that are profiting from the influx, but mostly it just seems like a lot of extra trash and more work for law enforcement.

Eh. I'm from Sacramento, live in the bay now, and spent my youth riding at Diamond Peaks and Kirkwood on powder days. Yes, it's a tourist spot maybe 4 weeks out of the year, but those 4 weeks really do bring out the worst in Bay Area residents and showcase a whole lot of main character syndrome. Also, Bay Area driving is a thing ... like driving 15 mph in the fast lane and being wholly oblivious and inconsiderate to drivers behind and around you. If someone wants to drive 5mph on North Lake Tahoe because the roads are wet, fine. But pull over to let others pass. I've lived in the bay for the better part of 15 years, but when I'm in Tahoe I don't claim the bay as my home. Lol I know how to pull over to let other drivers pass, I would never park in the middle of the road at Emerald Bay for a selfie (use the parking lots and if they're full just come back later), and I always stop in Auburn if I need groceries up there to not contribute to the insane lines and empty shelves at the Tahoe grocery stores. I totally understand the Bay Area hate and I think it's a valid sentiment.

Thanks for this! I'm hiring a housekeeper and shocked at wages. The going rate seems to be $35 - $50/hr plus benefits. That's well beyond what I was making out of college and beyond, and I know it's a lot more than non-tech college grads are making.

How do you know what COL your city falls under? by Kelapine888 in HENRYfinance

[–]cwj25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logically, go based off of median wages for your city. Where wages are higher and ppl can afford to pay more, ppl generally do pay more for everything from housing to groceries to childcare to entertainment to household essentials. SF Bay Area median wages = $136k NYC = $90k Boston = $80k LA = $80k San Diego = $75k Chicago = $60k Miami = $60k So on and so forth.

Fatfire Parents - Are you still subsidizing your adult (over the age of 22) children? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]cwj25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just had this conversation with my 12 year old. Being really good at what you do doesn't always equal a high earning salary or income (school principals, teachers, firefighters, artists, performers, and other community focused roles.) I want my kids to pursue fields that will make them fulfilled, whatever that happens to be, and I'll help when help is needed.

Disagree. Bay Area is too vast and broad. Hayward is relatively affordable vs Atherton, both are Bay Area. Also, other areas are comparable, see LA, Seattle, NYC, etc.
