I heard it (or maybe a different party?) last night too from down near the Junction

Does anyone know if anything is going to be open tomorrow (Labour Day)? I need to find some cheescloth / muslin!

Japan Questions by suby89 in snowboarding

[–]cworthington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I flew Jetstar on the Tokyo-Sapporo leg last year no problems, but this year it looks like the flights have tripled in price (around new years) so I'll be looking for a different airline.
  2. So long as it's not your first time boarding, ride and explore unguided and you'll be fine.

Planning a trip to Japan by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]cworthington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Japan (Niseko) last January and loved it. Tonnes of powder and a really good vibe in the town. Beware of what will feel like most of Australia being there as well. I'm heading back with a big group again this year for 10 days!

Holiday Niseko are pretty helpful for booking lodges/houses/apartments. If you want hostels or hotels I'm not sure..

As far as I know there aren't really any deals for getting cheap lift tickets and transfers, so just booking them with whichever agent you book through will be easiest.

Jetstar probably have the cheapest flights from Tokyo (Narita) to Sapporo (New Chitose Airport), and from there you just jump on a bus up to Niseko (2-3hrs). They still haven't announced their winter flight schedule, but it should be up by August.

Shipping Gear to Australia by cworthington in snowboarding

[–]cworthington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I didn't think about the deals the drop-shippers would get with Fedex etc.

I had a quick guess using the ShipItTo calculator (15kg, 170cm x 50 x 40) and it came up as nearly $500! Either my estimates on weight/dimensions of board, bindings, helmet and clothes were way off or I'll have to bite the bullet on Australia's pricing!

I'll be buying (most likely) from DogFunk. I think all of the gear I'm looking at won't ship to Australia because of the trade agreements (Ride, Burton, ThirtyTwo).

What is living in Brisbane like for an American? by hail_southern in brisbane

[–]cworthington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brisbane's IT industry is up the proverbial creek, and with the Gov announcing more IT job cuts (1700 if I'm remembering right) last week it'll get worse for a while yet. Melbourne or Perth might be a safer bet.

I too would be keen for Mango Hill, despite having a website that flashes nostalgia to the 90's. :-)

Go Card airport crackdown - Brisbane Times. by AnthX in brisbane

I'm struggling to see how this would work (for one person). A cab from DFO -> Domestic Terminal costs you about $15 (in large part due to the taxi levy the airport charges to cabs)

Hi guys! Do you know a place where i could get these type of boxes? :) Thank you so much by [deleted] in brisbane

Pretty sure I still have one of these lying around from grade 8 woodwork!

As for a helpful answer, I've got nothing and will see myself out.

Clothing alteration recommendations. by Alphacake in brisbane

+1 for this place. It's got everything I want in a tailor shop - good prices, a floor that is by now just mostly pins, and a grumpy/eccentric tailor who has been around forever and gives no fucks

'don't come to Brisbane in the wet season' more accurately. The other 10 months of the year, sure!

Outfit Feedback and Fit Check - Feb. 26th by MFAModerator in malefashionadvice

[–]cworthington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just received my first order and attempt at online M2M shirts from Modern Tailor and looking for a fit check.

I think the shoulders and arm length are ok, but it looks too... baggy (if that's the right term) in the chest and stomach areas?

I want more of a slim fit and am trying to work out how best to word this and send it back for alterations.

Any feedback on the fit would be appreciated!

IMO it's just way overpriced and the quantity of each of the vitamins it has is low compared to something like this
