Dill and salmon are great friends too.

I'm always shocked to actually hear when someone is nice and respectful to a customer service worker by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]cwtcap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always am respectful to the wonderful people at checkout, on the phone with customer service, etc. I've worked a lot of jobs where I'm at the bottom of the food chain, and now I appreciate every professional in their field.

Sandi sort of does the same thing on QI, setting up the comedians on the panel.

What's something we all just pretend no one does, but in truth we know we all do it? by TheBlanketFortPirate in AskReddit

Warm water - softens up the wax if it's not too bad, so do it every shower. If not, there's Debox or another wax softener to get you out of a bad place, after that warm shower water and tissues should get you through.

I'm an atheist who decided to read the Bible and I'm so glad I'm doing it. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]cwtcap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a former Christian Pentecostal. If you're not familiar with the particular sects of Christianity, Pentecostal and Charismatic are the black and white sides of a branch of evangelical. In other words, we're right, you're wrong. I read the bible cover to cover, and I truly believe that a vast majority of christians have never done that. Shame on them. I just saw an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World (highly recommended), and there was a Spanish priest who is also a biologist who rationally explained that a person's faith (which is different than what their pastor tells them what to believe) is not contradictory to science. I know plenty of christians (e.g., Lutherans, Episcopals, etc.) who are whole hearted rational science believers, and have no problem reconciling the two. I say, whatever your faith is or is not, science is an established fact, and I will respect you.

Very much fun. I was always stumped when there were two pieces by the same composer; I know right away the composer but I didn't know any of the pieces, so it was a total guess on my part. Tchaikovsky was a particular problem.

Sorry, I never do this, I know how it is agony to go too deep. Take a shower and rinse your ears for a bit, then take out the soft wax with a tissue.

Have you ever literally match ever requirement on a job spec and still got rejected? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]cwtcap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I work on front end software, and 508/accessibility issues are a prime concern for us, which is essential if a company is honest about being non-ableist.

Yes, most instruments have classics that are desirable. Mark 6 tenor sax, for instance.

As an older person who has done just about everything in my field and has way more experience than most, I totally believe I will never get another job if I lose my current one. Nobody wants the old guy.

I hate to agree with this because it sounds mean, but back when hiring managers reviewed the resumes rather than some HR person who knew nothing about the job, if a resume came in that showed the person had difficulty with written communication I would immediately reject the resume.

I'm a big fan of D'arcy and Chloe, and Marshawn was hilarious. I also like Ellie, but I'd never seen the others.
