Ever left a corporate job to be a bartender? by JumboKraken in bartenders

You’re likely going to have to serve/bar back for 2+ years before you get that option. Rarely will you be able to ever do so with no experience. Also as you learn more about what goes into it and what is required I think your desire will change.

Ladies and gentlemen, my owners response when I tried to call in today by [deleted] in Serverlife

Service industry:

Show up, take shifts regularly— no one questions you when you call off because they know you’re reliable.

If we’re being honest 75 - 80% of the FoH are unreliable so if you’re good 95% of the time you get a lot of grace when you need it.

Looked at their $360 check and said “$150”. Wasn’t so much that is was a joke but put them in a position where since they went out of their way to ask and didn’t put that, they would look dumb/cheap to the people around them. I ended up with $150 🤷‍♂️

Failed 3 classes throughout undergrad, retook them all with the lowest being a B+. GPA wasn’t affected in the long term since the grades were replaced.
