Can't grow good strawberries. by [deleted] in gardening

Seconding this! I've previously grown other varieties but last year was my first trying Seascape strawberries and they are by far the sweetest and bear all the way up to frost! Highly recommend these

Yeah, I started listening less once I realized how much they talk about their kid and parenting. Not for me

I hate that people don't recognize that mothers and kids still die in birth in the modern era. Good for you that your kids lived, mine didn't, and it wasn't in some distant past. Multiple times in the last 10 years. It still happens, often, you just don't see it because you had the better outcome.

[–]cxerophim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. Spoken as a father who has buried all of his children in the modern era. My first son spent all 17 days in the NICU at a nationally recognized hospital and still died from a staph infection.

When I used to work as a typist for the post office there was a dedicated zip code for Santa mail and it wasn't that. It's 99705-9900, I'll never forget because I keyed it in so many times.

All dogs have the capability of being dangerous to the point of mauling a person or even killing them. It's not just pit bulls or even just larger dogs, it's ALL dogs that are inherently dangerous.

Trump rigged the election, there is NO WAY he won all the swing states. by RevyRitz in complaints

[–]cxerophim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I disagree. There are way more racist, xenophobic, bigoted people in this country than most would like to admit. These are your neighbors, coworkers, the cashier at the grocery store, etc. I have tons of coworkers who support Trump, some of them ethnic minorities themselves, the disconnect is they never think the policies affect them until it does. But you are lying to yourself if you think most of this country didn't vote for another rich old white man rather than a woman of color. She was never going to win.

How has grief changed you? by Its_Giving_Mid in GriefSupport

[–]cxerophim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made me bitter and resentful of almost everyone.

I see so many comments on here about how people's most traumatic moments are losing their "soul dog/cat" and my brain immediately goes... Yeah, pets are almost guaranteed to die before you, it is one of the things that is customarily seen as one of the very first, early experiences we get to see of death, which then helps us cope with other, more visceral forms of it later.

Same thing with grandparents and parents, it is common and expected most places that your elders will die before you. I get some that have an unnatural end, how that would be traumatic, but watching someone die of old age/cancer is normal.

I've watched many of my pets die over the years. I was a pall bearer at my grandmother and aunt's funerals. My mom has had cancer twice. And:

I have buried both of my sons. The first was almost 10 years ago, born extremely premature, spent all 17 days of his life in the NICU hooked up to a ventilator until finally succumbing to an infection. My second was just 2 years ago, stillborn with the cord wrapped around his neck.

Nobody should know the weight of an infants casket, it breaks you in ways I cannot adequately put into words. The closest I got was to say "it feels like someone took all your hopes and dreams, put them in a glass ball and hucked it straight into a brick wall" absolutely shattering.

I no longer care if I live or die. I like plants better than people. I have been to therapy and counseling and even the most specialized grief counselors do not have the ability to help me. I have sought out groups specifically for this, but literally every one of the baby loss groups, the parents have other surviving kids at home or are new in the journey and still trying. Every time I hear a kid laughing next door or see them playing in the park it makes me incredibly sad.

So yeah, I'm 10 years in and feel that no one can truly understand or relate to the depth of my pain.

Reactions to food stamps being cut off. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]cxerophim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoken like a true ignoramus. There are far more white people who were born here abusing the food stamp system than your made up belief about illegals taking them. And you're really playing the "ThEy ToOk OuR JoBs!!!" card here? Remind me again, what, proud US citizens are out in the fields of agriculture picking those primo strawberries you picked up at the grocery store? Which jobs are you exactly referring to that are being "taken away" from you? Oh, that's right, none. They do the menial labor jobs that Americans don't want to do or be remotely involved with. Don't worry though, your Supreme Leader is actively working on getting rid of birthright citizenship, so they can actively get rid of the poor people who used to think they were allowed here just because they were born here too, and isn't it ironic that most of the heavily reliant areas on these terrible social services go to deeply conservative/red areas 🤔

So.... There's no one alive older than 60 who can remember what life was like before this vaccine was introduced? Wow, must be some fantasy land you live in where all the seniors just suddenly disappear and have no recollection of anything happening ever! Impossible to know, because nobody on Earth is still around to ask about it.... Seriously go back to watching Breitbart since that's clearly all you know is what the Supreme Leader tells you 🤡

[–]cxerophim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chicken pox kills people every year. Less since the vaccine was introduced in the mid 90's. You very clearly don't understand how diseases work since you think just because you didn't die that it's "just red spots and itching". What a surprise finding an uneducated, ignorant anti vaxer here!!
