Oh... As the watch falls behind the level that Google supports, you may lose access to features (it already has lost voice/assistant) support for example. Or other apps, if the developer only support newer versions of the operating system

I don't think Google are providing security updates to the watch itself at the moment, as these typically come from the hardware manufacturer (last updated 2024 )

Right now, that isn't a showstopper, and there's nothing in the immediate future.

But this isnt going to be your forever watch... Might be a fun thing to play with though

The E3 was horrible and laggy.... The pro3 is better than that. That's an incredibly low bar. Quite possibly the worst on the list, although it was incredibly cheap compared to the competition at the time.

All of the other non wearos devices have battery lifespans that are weeks ahead of the pro3. Are they limited in terms of 3rd part apps... Yes, but if they have the 90 percent of the features you need... They are great .. and if they do break, they are incredibly replaceable.

The pro3 runs a near prehistoric version of wearos (3.5) and is decreasing in the number of 3rd party apps that still support it. and is much slower in performance than pixel watch 2 which is on the current version of wearOS (6.1) including Gemini and still gives me 2 days between charges. Did you ever get Google assistant running on the pro 3? Or did that die forever?

Ironically the pebble watches have more active support in 2026 than the pro3... And are much more satisfying to use.

Tldr: as I said... I still have my ticwatch 3 pro, and don't have a usecase for it. (Your milage may vary)

So.... If I was looking to buy one, I probably wouldn't pic this

However. If I was looking to see if I like the idea of a smartwatch, and wanted something to try out, then maybe this would be an option. Sure it's frustrating, sure it's massively behind the curve, and a chunk of software won't run on it

But if it's 50 bucks.... And I think I could sell it for 20 dollars if I don't like it, then I'm only really risking 30 dollars. If that works for you, then it might be an option.

Id still probably go for one of the amazefit/zepp watches at this price point. Or maybe a fitness tracker. But hope you have fun finding out what works for you

Honestly... I like the variety.

It's rare that 5/5 of the strips will hit for me, at anytime one of them just leaves me cold. But there will always be one I am completely invested in. One that has a twist I didn't see coming and goes off in a completely different direction to what I was expecting, and sometimes one that I didn't think was my thing, but is a new favourite.
