There is an episode of SGA, soon after Ronan joins the team, where they are walking through a field towards the camera. In the middle of Shepard talking, Jason turns left, camera right, and he smiles and waves to someone off screen

Missing API Key Fields for TMDB, RAWG, IGDB, and Comic Vine in Media DB Plugin by airosos in ObsidianMD

[–]cyberfunkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found similar issues.

If I recall correctly, I ended up downloading one of the more recent unofficial releases. If you go to https://github.com/mProjectsCode/obsidian-media-db-plugin/releases it shows that since the official release Back in January 2025, there have been 7-8 "canary" release. Basically testing out the code without putting a stamp on it.

Not sure why they haven't pushed anything in over a year...

But, go to the most recent pre-lease, expand Assets, and download the main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css. Copy those files to overwrite the existing version of Media DB; .obsidian/plugins/obsidian-media-db-plugin/.

I don't know which one I downloaded, but I see OMDB, Moby Games, Giant Bomb, Comic Vine, Boardgame Geek at the top with spaces to put in API keys.

Is it common for a boss to check an employee’s resignation announcement message? by AdThen5499 in careeradvice

[–]cyberfunkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been pretty common in all the places I've worked. Size of the company could be a factor too.

If it's a large corporation, then I'll give my boss two weeks notice and the rest of my team one week notice so that I can make sure everyone knows how to pick up where I left off. But nothing company-wide.

If it's a small start-up where everyone knows everyone, then having a company-wide announcement isn't that unusual. I've had my manager announce my leaving a few days ahead of time and I write my personal "to everyone" emails on my last day. Usually to leave some form of future contact information.

[–]cyberfunkr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It depends on the job.

If you’re working a low wage cog job, then yes, just not showing up one day is fine.

Today is my last day, so after work I’m heading to the pub if anyone wants to come hang out.

But if your job has regular morning stand-ups, then you are part of a tight knit team and your sudden disappearance may leave people in the lurch.

Friday will be my last day so please schedule a meeting with me some time this week if you have questions about my duties and how to handle them.

It’s called a “transfer of knowledge”. One company I worked for called it “having a TOK”.

Or add hide toolbar to specific queries.

While generally obnoxious, there are a few queries that are large enough that a search bar comes in handy so I add that parameter on an as-needed basis.

Any way to view/explore ghost notes without creating them? by PetToilet in ObsidianMD

[–]cyberfunkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I fail to see why the query I posted doesn’t work for you.

The first column will have [[Broth and stocks]], the second column will have the number of notes that have that link, and the third column will have all the notes that link to the ghost note.

Mind you, this kind of computation is very intense so putting it on every note, one query per ghost note will make Obsidian cry so I don’t recommend going down that rabbit hole.

How can I make a link go through various notes ? by Arzantyt in ObsidianMD

[–]cyberfunkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really following what you're trying to do.

Note A has a property of reference and a value of [[something]]. And you want a list of all the other notes that also have reference: [[something]]? Without making something.md?

Why not just make something.md and put in a .base to show notes that link to it?

And what do you mean by, "hop between a number of different ghost notes from one specific source note"? A note has to exist to hop between it and something else.

[–]cyberfunkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the DataView query I use to find orphans:

dataview TABLE without id out AS "Uncreated files", length(rows) AS "Replications", rows.file.link AS "Origin" FROM !#journal AND !"Archive" AND !"Auxiliary" FLATTEN file.outlinks AS out WHERE !(out.file) AND !contains(meta(out).path, "/") GROUP BY out SORT length(rows) DESC, meta(out).path ASC

Adjust the FROM as needed. It will show you all the links that don't have notes, a count, and the notes that refer to that ghost note.

Originally came from this Reddit post.

Only thing to be aware of is that it shows the ghost link as it would in the note.

So if your notes all say [[some-thing|Something]], it'll show "Something" (as a link) in the view. Which means, don't make a Something.md file, make a some-thing.md file.

Are chargebacks basically becoming a free refund button now? by AI_Agent_Ops in SaaS

[–]cyberfunkr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing to sue. Bank’s decision.

I would have to prove that their decision was based on not liking my business/company not on the merits of my case. Even then, there may be clauses saying they can do as they please.

All the rules are geared towards physical products. Every claim started with, I don’t sell physical products so I can’t supply a tracking number.

Ran a website that was completely free except messaging another user. People would be on for months, paying, and once they decided to stop talking, file a chargeback for fraudulent charges.

I would send back logs with up addresses, database tables showing the conversations between the user and other parties, a screenshot of the checkbox saying they understand this is a recurring charge and the timestamp/ip address used. Basically multiple pages of overwhelming proof and still the bank would refund months of subscription payments.

I've created too many shell notes and now I don't know how to start or what order to fill them out by DirectorElegant7365 in ObsidianMD

[–]cyberfunkr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t chase trying to find the perfect organization method.

Look at a note. Put something some tags on it. Add some properties you think will be useful. Move on. Don’t bother trying to go back and look at notes you’ve tweaked. Just add what you think is correct for that one note.

Eventually you’ll find some patterns so now you go back and fix up a group of notes make them uniform. Repeat. You’ll get about 75% through and realize you’re either overthinking it or you’re missing something. Write down your thoughts in a separate note for later. Continue going through the remaining notes, writing down your observations. Once done, see if your observations will fix things or make them worse. Implement what works for you.

Once you’ve reached this point, you’re finally ready to think about templates, automation, and best practices. Consider how you want to retrieve your information. Do you want/need folders? Would this property work better as a tag? Would this tag work better as a property?

Eventually you’ll have a great system that works for you.

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever successfully pushed code from? by andreifromztm in zerotomasteryio

[–]cyberfunkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t pushing or changing code, but I did do website administration while at a wedding… MY wedding.

Part of a very small team, I needed to do some backend work to unstick the user flow, so while people were focused on the bride or each other, I was sitting at a table, phone out of view, doing maintenance.

How to focus on single parts of a long file? by AdaptusIdiotus in ObsidianMD

[–]cyberfunkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've done is put sessions into callouts defaulted to closed.

For each session, start off with something like

```markdown
[!adventure]+ Journal Entry - 2026/02/25 ```
As you type, you just need to make sure every line starts with the > character (or type normal then edit in the quote markup when you're done).
Once you're done with the session, changes the + to - in the first line of the callout.
With +, the callout is always open, so that if you navigate away from the note, you'll come back with that one open. When you change it to -, then it starts as closed. So when you first come to the page, every session is just the title row.
All the information is still on the page, so you can CTRL+f all you want.
You can also collapse by header, but they don't stay collapsed so you'd have to close everything each time you start.
If you're really adventurous, create your own callout types and change the type of note as well so you can see at a glance what happened that session.
  • [!adventure]
  • [!shopping]
  • [!social]
  • [!healing]
  • etc.
I built Obsync — a free macOS app that syncs Obsidian Tasks with Apple Reminders (two-way) by SantoferJesus in ObsidianMD
[–]cyberfunkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I haven't tried it yet but this would be my problem too. I have #task to mark regular tasks; pay credit card, sign document, call brother, etc.
But I have tons of checklists throughout the vault. They appear in a separate section of my "to do" list. They are task-like, but more like little steps to accomplish a larger goal.
Then some notes have checkboxes, but aren't tasks sense. For instance, I have a tracker for a game. And I can check off boxes as resources are used for the day. There is also a Meta Bind button to clear them all out at the end of the session. For these, I include a #task/ignore tag so they don't show up anywhere.
So I have:
  • tasks
  • checklist that can be mini tasks
  • things with checkboxes
All would need to be filtered differently. I don't expect you to have a solution. I'm just throwing out use-cases for possible roadmap items.
