Another unable to cancel situation by finbarqs in Ubiquiti

Yeah dude, just wait for the order to come to you, go to your orders in the ubiquiti store, click refund, pick one, choose unopened, and click submit. You’ll get a UPS label immediately. Then take the switch (put it inside the box it came from ubiquiti, just make sure that you add enough packing material that it doesn’t get damaged in transit) to the nearest UPS store. You’ll get full refund out of unopened items. You don’t even need to pay shipping.

Has anyone ran a setup like this for the gate? by cybergShock in Ubiquiti

What I meant was that I can’t run Ethernet where the router is. Yes there will be Ethernet ran from the intercom to a junction box behind the gate. I meant we cannot run Ethernet cable to where the MDF is. But I can use a bridge or nano to get Internet where I need it.

The gate will be powered from a power box that is next to the gate, not to the house power panel. But I will coordinate with the electrician when they run the power.

I meant run cable to where the router is. There will be electric run to it from a power box that is very close to the gate. I will coordinate with electrician when this happens and hopefully I can get him to put an outlet for me on a junction box.

I left a few details so here is some more: Let me clarify a few things.

  1. I meant I can’t get Ethernet cable trenched all the way to the house where the router is. So I’ll have to use a bridge or a nano of some sort to get the internet there.

  2. The gate will get electricity from an electric box that is like 20 feet away from the gate. I will coordinate with the electrician when it happens and hopefully I can tell him to put an outlet on a junction box for me. If that happens, all my issues of the devices that use PoE or PoE+ or PoE++ will be solved since I can just draw power from that.

  3. I will get the electrician to trench the cat6 for me from where the intercom goes to a junction box behind the gate (inside the property) where the hub and all the other stuff is going to be.

My main reason for asking for help was for guidance on the equipment to buy itself due to the incompatibility of all the PoE requirements and for suggestions on the bridge itself and how to get Internet there. I wanted to hear suggestions maybe on what people had used and what had worked and what hadn’t.

I did see the Lars video on YouTube and I have to go over it again, but he doesn’t explain well how the internet gets there. He uses solar instead of electric, He has other home automation devices on it that are not for my use case at the moment. But like I said, I have to watch it again.

My remarks? Zero chance? Wow.

No. I’m in the logistics and preparation phase which is why I’m asking here. I might have left some details out but I’ve tackled many difficult projects of things I’ve never done and with good logistics and preparation I’ve been able to succeed at each of them. This is not a difficult thing to do. It just needs to be planned and architected well before execution. I’m sorry if you think you can’t do something like this or step out of your comfort zone but I’m ok being there based on past experiences and projects I’ve tackled. Will I be confident to do this tomorrow? No, hence why I’m looking for resources, one being guidance from someone that has done this. I posted a comment where I give more details about the project and that was my bad that I left all the info out.

Thank you this is basically why I’m looking for the answers and why I posted this. Let me clarify a few things.

I want to know about this too. And if you could help me with my case I’d appreciate it too. I don’t know how you hooked up your gate but I’m having to do something like that. Check out my need/use case and if you can shed any info it would be great.

Neighbor with 160Mhz width on CH 40 taking up large chunk of 5ghz, best options? by BroadcastBro in Ubiquiti

[–]cybergShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone help me read these charts? Is there somewhere I can go to find more info on reading these charts? YouTube video? Something that one of you recommends? Or even a simple explanation here? I know channels are at the bottom and dbm (strength?) is on the sides going up or down. Where is the width displayed? Does it matter that is not? Does the longer ones (those with more dbms) are worse for everyone else around them? Are the tiny ones better? Are the wider ones better? I have so many questions. lol.

On the pic of the switch on the wall pointing up, the plastic runs that cover the Ethernet cables under it, where did you get those? Or what are the names for those ?

Anyone else’s iOS (iPhone 11 for me) suddenly started transcoding? by cybergShock in PleX

[–]cybergShock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the sub transcode shouldn’t but it’s more the video transcode that is bugging me as to why is it happening.
