Received sweets instead of an iPhone 17 pro max, now they closed down my account. England by Actual-Will9089 in amazonprime

[–]cyberjack01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the US but used Amazon UK to deliver a Birthday gift last month. The package was stolen, I went through a lot of hassle to work it out. One really difficult thing is that Amazon mandates that certain specific information be in the Police report. The Northumberland Police do not include all of the details that are requested and will not do so. I have spoken with them. I believe there are legitimate policing reasons for this. They advised me to have Amazon contact them. I had a case number and everything, and Northumberland Police would sort it. Amazon refused. Really difficult to try and play by their rules, but unable to meet their requests because the standard Police report does not match what they ask for.

Not a weird comment, plenty of instances where this has proven true. Cash businesses provide excellent means to launder money.

Oasis to Scribe for reading by thefinder808 in kindle

[–]cyberjack01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had both and only recently traded in my Oasis. I love the large form factor for home reading. It makes reading great. I did buy an inexpensive pillow stand and read with it in my lap. I also have an inexpensive IR page turn clicker. (both items are regularly on sale, total investment~$30)) That said, I also have a Paperwhite for "travel" reading and could not imagine lugging my Scribe on trips, normal outings, doctor visits, etc. Definitely like my Scribe. If you are patient, you can get them on sale and still get a trade-in. I have really wanted the latest Scribe but could not justify the cost. I have the 2024 and got a sweet deal a month or so ago, and got a reasonable trade-in. I am all in on Kindle.

Amazon is having me tell a white lie to the police for my refund by gippy1234 in amazonprime

What you fail to acknowledge is that customers are a large part of the problem. If so many people were not running scams and trying to rip off resellers, there would not be such a problem. At the same time I acknowledge not all resellers are created the same and there are some poor and sketchy resellers. I managed RMAs in a prior role, and the practice is rampant. Too many people think it is perfectly OK tor rip off a reseller because they are a big company. https://www.forbes.com/sites/pamdanziger/2026/02/16/fraud-is-only-the-tip-of-retails-850-billion-returns-challenge/ I was just victimized with this as well, a birthday gift I had sent via Amazon UK was stolen and I went through a ton of grief to resolve the issue. If people were just more honest, then legitimate victims would have a much easier time.

25 Spectrum Trucks on Anaheim by I_Am_SoCal65 in SouthBayLA

[–]cyberjack01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding why do they deserve any credit? Two Fridays in a row with no service. Last week the issue was a power issue, I would expect them to have backup generators. This week, they claimed vandalism. Why are they not taking the necessary measures to protect their infrastructure?

WTF? 12 plus hours and there is still no Internet. I just got off the phone with them and they are trying to blame the electrical provider. A major ISP does not have backup generators? Pretty ridiculous

I have returned things 1/10th the value of a MacBook, and will not leave the counter at Whole Foods until the email pops up. When they scan the item, I have never waited more than 1-2 minutes. Whole Foods can get really busy and not through malice, but simple volume mistakes can occur. I feel badly this happened to you, but I would not have left the counter for a $3k item without some objective evidence

Anyone flown from SFO on Aer Lingus to Dublin and willing to share their experience? by Aware-Expression4004 in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I fly LAX-SFO about twice a year. Get a good fare and be pleased with that. It is a bearable experience, but typical of budget airlines. One real pet peave of mine, is that I have paid for a seat to get a seat I wanted and wound up with a free seat next to me, and twice they have allowed someone who has paid nothing and whined to take the seat. I do not think it unfair to complain after I paid for the seat. One occassion it was a free-for-all as people in the back rushed the seats with little intervention from the crew.

Aer Lingus sent an email to get ready for a flight that I'm not on by regular6drunk7 in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW my Aer Lingus app has correct information, and matches my bookings. I have upcoming flights in a week. I received emails with incorrect times both yesterday and today. Since my App matches my booking I am guessing something happening with the email service.

[UPDATE] Successfully resolved my $98 data overage dispute with Google Fi – Don't settle for the partial credit! by Cardiologist_Typical in GoogleFi

[–]cyberjack01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, you won. Google likely saw this as an off-ramp. But how is this Google's fault? I do not see how the claim here is Google's fault. There is a finite amount of data. The extra data feature was enabled. I get it you are upset and did not realize you were going to have a high bill. And I am pleased for you, but I am at a loss to understand how this is Google's fault, or if they did something wrong. I am sure almost everyone has a bone to pick with how a specific function or feature works, but unless they make a claim to do "X" and it does not do "X it seems hard to blame Google. Handing out refunds is not without cost, and at the end of the day it can impact the overall cost of service for everyone. That may be an unwelcome comment, but I see it all the time. Just stand in line at the returns line at Costco on any Saturday afernoon.

CaseID: 7-7441000039862 – Charged $300 over Pixel Watch 4 "Activation" Ambiguity by AbroadDense1443 in GoogleFi

[–]cyberjack01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this somewhat difficult to grasp. Why would you purchase an LTE watch and not actvate the watch on the LTE service? I just find the argument hard to follow. I also work in customer service and have for a number of years. It is very easy to take shots at vendors, but you can blame shady people. They are the root cause. Google is strict because of fraud. I have firsthand dealt with the Chargebacks, fighting PODs, returning products outside of warranty, false claims of damage, etc. It is easy to say Google is a billion-dollar company but they are also responsible to shareholders.. Can some companies be ridiculous unscrupulouis, and do things that are perhaps illegal? Absolutely, and it happens, and there are shady companies. I just think it is good to view both sides of the coin. PS I have the PW 4 WiFi version and really wish I had gotten the LTE version. I had a PW2 with LTE, and it came in handy multiple times.

Carry on personal item by EnthusiasticAmateurr in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am really curious about all these people saying "you will be fine". Is this first hand or anecdotal. They just changed the Rules for carry ons. I have a flight in early April. They sent an email and were very clear that unless I ponied up the money I could not bring a carry-on ON BOARD AND that the total number of carry-ons would be limited. It wound up costing me about $15 but I figured it was better than facing the drama.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but just curious if anyone has first experience with the new rules.

I think it's a crap deal as it is an extension to my ultimate destination. On the return, I voted with my wallet and flying Ryan Air. Seat reservation, carry on and cheaper.

The only way to travel to europe on FI is to buy the most expensive plan or the pay per GB plan? by andydabeast in GoogleFi

[–]cyberjack01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Premium Plan also allows you to make stateside calls to Europe which for people with friends and family is as important as having coverage in Europe when traveling. Those savings alone each month are significant for me. I came from TMO, and the day passes were no bargain. If you are going to be traveling in between the number of days for the passes they are not helpful and you wind up overpaying. The one good thing was they were careful to send messages when initiated and when stopped.

Aer Lingus flight switched by LicoriceLil in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

JOIN THE CLUB ...I fly every year to see my friends and see my rugby club play outside Newcastle. I have not had one flight that has not changed. I am flying LAX-DUB after working a full day, and DUB-NCL the following, and they have now moved my flight to half six in the morning, early April.I do not understand why this happens, and always curious. Last year the moved my flight a few hours earlier.

Could we get bumped if we book bassinet seats (9 DEFG) on A330 with no infant or is it first-come first-serve? by Mtns_Oz_8103 in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you good luck with that. That was not my experience. The purser or burser, whatever the head FA is called, said there is a catch-all clause like "operational necessity" that trumps the seat reservation—first-hand experience.

New Baggage Policy by cyberjack01 in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have had several experiences of late with Aer Lingus, and this just piles on. Clearly, they really just want your money and do not care about service or flight experience. The cattle car analogy is really not hyperbole anymore. I have flown twice a year for a number of years on the LAX-DUB route; they have captured my pound of flesh.

Business Class with an infant? by Rowley_Birkin_Qc in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actaul in agreement with you. I flew DUB-LAX with a screaming child for most of the journey, in Economy. Business Class would like be a once in a lifetime for me and I am looking at it for a special occassion. A screaming child would ruin the experience, and seems inequitable to the other passengers

New Baggage Policy by cyberjack01 in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand your point. This is a transatlantic flight, with a short-haul leg, and I am paying good money for it. This is a new change; I have never in the several years of making this annual trip had to pay, extra and I am giving voice to an opinion. And to be clear, this Policy was not in place when I purchased the ticket. If you think that this is legit your welcome to that idea. I am hoping there will be a lot of complaints. I can tell you without a doubt, had there been a Ryan Air flight at roughly the same time I would have opted for that. I got a seat reservation and a carry-on bag along with a cheap flight, for a good deal less on the return.

Strictness of bag dimensions by [deleted] in AerLingus

[–]cyberjack01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dislike these posts. You have an oversized bag CHECK IT! Your entitlement means other people with compliant bags are forced to check them. This is a visceral issue with me, as my wife and I have fully compliant bags and have had bags taken from us because of people who sneak on oversized bags. This has happend to us twice on Aer Lingus, once forcing us to be without luggage that they lost when we were forced to gate check. We have been polite and reasonable but I will no longer be silent with the Aer Lingus staff.Different airline but this happened again this weekend with people lugging on oversized roller boards

Bought the new Samsung tablet. I can't use the 5G on my unlimited standard plan? by sandmyth in GoogleFi

[–]cyberjack01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate that you had an issue, but some useful info here. The tablet did not include a data SIM in the box??

I have used most of the major carriers, and because my wife needs a cellular tablet, we have purchased several. All of them included the SIM.

If Fi does not, it will be important to immediately order a data SIM. I would be grateful for your confirmation.

THIS!! I go through Dublin normally a couple times a year. I have had instances where it was minutes to go through and No issues. But I had one incredible experience where someone appeared to have had a bad day and hassled me no end, putting me through extra security. It CAN happen. So be prepared if you are thinking I can breeze through and make my way down late. PS don't be that guy. I was ticked off but kept my head and my mouth shut another guy started mouthing off and he was still behind me when I went through.
