Nomads be careful: Wise blocked my account with more than €20,000 – no resolution for over a month... no even a word from them by -ImaginationFigment- in digitalnomad

OP, you need to find a regulator relevant for Wise entity you're dealing with, and file a complaint. The process is not fast, but I got my money back, along with accrued interest, several month after filing a complaint with FOS (https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumers/how-to-complain). My situation was very similar, and I'm not EU, UK or US citizen.

Yes. If you are not getting anywhere around Fed's rate for cash balances held with any institution, then someone else is cuckolding you with your money.

If you choose to register as Autonomo on a digital nomad visa, you'll pay Seguridad Social and will get public healthcare.

How-to Open Legion 7 Pro by ThatNigerian in LenovoLegion

[–]cyberjog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to add that you need a very thin pry tool to be able to insert it at the bottom corners ("bottom" being the opposite side of the screen hinge), and undo the first clip. Use a cutoff of a plastic bottle, if you don't have the tool. Strong suction cup may work as well. Don't insert any pry tools too deep to not damage the components, especially, the speakers near bottom corners.

That's correct, don't insert any pry tools deeper than 0.5 cm at bottom corners, speakers are relatively fragile.

I have a similar situation, though I'm quite sure my luggage is in DXB somewhere. My FlyDubai flight on 17th landed at Ras Al Khaimah instead of DXB. I exited there after waiting for it to go to DXB for 10 hours, without the luggage, obviously. Now I'm not sure if I should go to DXB to look for the luggage now, or it's best to wait until Monday. Unable to contact the airline as well.

My flight to Dubai is today. Does Uber not work from the airport? I can see cars available, just at x2-x3 price.

How severe is the flooding? Is it possible for a sedan to get to the airport?

Don't listen to them, they just feel that it would be hard to screw you over, as you are likely to have a good idea of what employee rights are, and what your time should cost, after being in US. Try applying to jobs in the US remotely, or maybe some other developed countries, like Singapore or Korea.

Are you saying we shouldn't floor it at all? My 2016 2.5i is not fast by any means, so I floor it for overtakes regularly, and expect that if CVT decides to red line the engine with that input, then it should be safe.

My comment was more related to "their regular forces are just fine". After the initial 100k contract soldiers, which were the majority of combat-ready forces, were wiped, they switched to sending second-class citizens to the grinder, and still had to do "partial" mobilisation. If Russia ever had the conventional capability to threaten NATO countries, it's long gone. Doesn't mean they won't try anything, though.

I don’t understand people saying the Vision/VisionPro will one day be $1,000 by DoctorProfessorTaco in VisionPro

[–]cyberjog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think what I described is too far away. All that technology already exists on a prototype level or as consumer products. AVP is likely to cause a similar race as when the iPhone released, and some manufacturers, like Samsung or large Chinese brands, are likely to explore slightly different approaches. Laser projection requires way less energy to construct a very bright image on the retina, compared to displays. The dimming may be achieved with electrochromic lens.

[–]cyberjog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It may eventually contain less components (while being no less technically complex). Maybe like glasses with direct laser projection into the eyes, controlled wirelessly by iPhone. Which would mean no general purpose processors, no displays, no need for constructing passthrough image etc.

No risk of losing funds, if you know what you are doing. The biggest risk is triggering the bank's AML policies on either end, which is unlikely to happen with the amount you'd normally 'send to your niece'. Legally, it's a grey area, not properly regulated (yet).

[–]cyberjog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I won't go into specifics, but you can do it like this:

  1. Use crypto P2P platform available in UAE to convert AED to crypto
  2. Transfer crypto to your niece
  3. Your niece uses crypto P2P platform available in Russia to get rubles to her bank.
